Deadheads from this year's calla lillies on my back porch. I could let them go, and brought them into the studio, recently, for a few last still life shots. The lighting for this series is one studio light Through the translucent white umbrella, with some fill from stray bouncing light and from a reflector on the opposite side from the main light That main light was kept low to wash across the tops for the texture and leave more 3-D modelling in the subject.

I ripped out the Calla Lillys in the front yard last year, with hopes of planting something new. They sprang right back up this spring, and are in full bloom right now. Can't kill these crazy things. No wonder they're a symbol of Easter.
Spring is very slow and very chilly this year and the calla lillies seem to love this!

We have lots of Calla Lilies on the property. This one was in partial sun and a little slower than the rest but I found it most beautiful.

Calla lily inside the walls of the Kasbah in Chefchaouen, Morocco. The elegant calla lily was one of
New Mexico artist Georgia O'Keefes favorite subjects and the transillumination was too good of an opportunity to pass up. I had to lie down on my back to get this image and used a 24mm Carl Zeiss lens for the perspective and depth of field it provides.
