A bit of free time in the college studio today so tried to get a bit of still life practice in. So much to learn and didn't quite achieve the look that I wanted but hey ho....try again another time!

3 Bowens Gemini - 2 to front 45 degree (L&R) fitted with reflectors and medium honeycomb, 1 to back left fitted with snoot. Light bounced off white card to fill.
Calla Lily in a deep reddish purple. Bulbs return every year and are very easy to grow.
Not a fussy flower. I had some small lily bulbs get into the lawn. Make for pretty weeds! Edit: crop/contrast/brightness

It is amazing to see how many calla rhizomes can grow at the base of one plant, depending where it is planted and how well you water it.
Last weekend I noticed this perfect Lilly with no defects in the light of the morning fog on Camano Island. Nikon D300, AF Macro 60mm 2.8 on manual focus.

Did a quick drive to Garrapata to find the canyon with the calla lilies. Most of them were well along their way so I was about 3 weeks too late.
Calla lilies are not true lilies! Despite what their name suggests, calla lilies are not true lilies. In fact, they are not a calla, either. The calla lily belongs to the genus Zantedeschia and is a member of the Araceae family, along with the caladium and philodendron.
Wie viele andere Vertreter der Aronstabgewächse sind alle Teile der Sumpf-Calla giftig. Die Ursachen hierfür sind jedoch nicht eindeutig. Es werden sowohl den vorhandenen Salzen der Oxalsäure als auch dem Aroin toxische Wirkung zugeschrieben.
Es gibt kaum dokumentierte Fälle von Vergiftungen. Bei Aufnahme größerer Mengen der Pflanze kommt es zu Durchfall und Lähmungen des Zentralen Nervensystems. Auf die Haut wirkt die Pflanze, vor allem die Wurzeln, reizend.
Like many other aroids are representative of all parts of the marsh calla toxic. The reasons are not clear. It supports both the existing salts of oxalic acid as well as the toxic effects attributed Aroin.
There are few documented cases of poisoning. Upon taking up large amounts of the plant leads to diarrhea and paralysis of the central nervous system. On the skin affects the plant, especially the roots, irritate.
