Strobist: one LP160 in a Westcott Apollo Softbox firing at 1/2 power at camera right. A white foamcore board was just to camera left for fill.

Sena Gu has chosen the Calla lily flower to inspire this vase. The delicate shape looks pretty with stems in for decorative use.

Imagine it full of ice cream and with a spoon!

Back in the day when I shot film, circa 95' I took a shot for my photography class as part of my final portfolio. The picture was also titled "Calla." Fast forward and voila. Here's my allegorical interpretation of Edward Weston's Pepper but with a Calla.

This was an interesting experiment and it mainly dealt with just setting up a post-processing workflow. As this is all new to me(coming from film) and I'm learning slowly and following my own path.

This image first went through a few presets and manual adjustments in Aperture, then swung over to HDR Express for some tone mapping and back to Aperture where I applied a B&W filter to fit my mood. I think the last preset really brought the image into its own character. Its my favorite of this (experimental) nature series.

Calla lillies are probably my favorite flower. I love the simplicity of the blossom and the gentle curves.

Years ago, my father-in-law planted this in our garden. When I moved in with Karen, I dug it up and brought it with me.

This plant is a survivor and so forgiving. I'm a terrible gardener. I never water, never feed and never ever weed. It's a target for slugs and yet, when I looked out the window this evening, it had two perfect blossoms.

It is amazing to see how many calla rhizomes can grow at the base of one plant, depending where it is planted and how well you water it.

Taken in my front yard

This is one of the first calla lillies i've seen this year. i love them because of their beautiful curves and simplicity.

Calla is a young dragon that loves silver and gold. She likes to surround herself with shiny beads and beautiful glass globes.

Calla is handcrafted from polymer clays mostly Purple Pink and gold. Her eye is genuine onyx. Calla nests on a golden amulet and her necklace perch is a combination of more of silver and golden treasures. The macrame is 2 tone,,, deep purple and ivory. The golden clasp finishes the 18.5 inch long piece

I love this photo because the calla lily looks like a heart.

My pink callas are now in bloom. They add such a nice soft hue to the garden.
