September 17, 2016 - After spending the morning at Machu Picchu I have some time before our group lunch to explore Aguas Calientes also known as
Machu Picchu Pueblo.
This is the main crater of the active Poås Volcano in Costa Rica named hot lagoon (Laguna Caliente in Spanish). This is one of the most acidic lakes in the world with a pH of nearly 0. No aquatic life has been found in it yet acidophiles are most likely the only organisms that inhabit it.
