Wish I had taken a few extra minutes to get closer to and compose a better photo of the old railroad depot on the right, but with a long, hot driving day ahead (that ended being even longer than expected... didn't realize we changed time zones when heading essentially north) I opted instead for this distant view. Seems like I remember more "missed" opportunities than successful ones...
Caliente, Nevada... a town that lived up to its name on this summer day.

The first time I was here there was a woman living in this house that was sitting out on the front porch. A few visits later the house's roof had burned and the house was abandoned. On my last visit it was apparent that the house had been gone through and its furnishings, etc had been drug out onto the front porch. I imagine that on my next visit the house will be gone all together. This house is about two houses down on the right from the green abandoned bungalow. The little angel is still in the front window.
EDIT POST
For his birthday, my friend Seamus asked that we help him move his workshop into a new space he’d rented. Way to party, dude.
The space was an abandoned primary school attached to a still-functioning daycare centre. The school looked marvellous; lots of floors connected by spiral staircases, loads of open space that begged to be run around and up and down in.
We were joined by Seamus’ parents, and I must say I’m rather proud of my friends for managing to keep our thoroughly modern and definitely R-rated sense of humour compatible with his folks’ more traditional sensibilities.
His dad’s people carrier became both a cargo transport and a clown car; on every run we somehow managed to cram in more stuff and more people, until finally the job was done.
To celebrate, we concluded with a nice dinner in a Portugese restaurant. I couldn’t resist the grilled sardines; they were a highlight of my trip to Lisbon with David last year.
Arquitectura . Cuando lo funcional se vuelve casi atractivo. Si bien este no es el caso
Digamos que literalmente pudo serlo al más puro invernadero.

It had recently rained on my visit and this bungalow took on a darker shade of washed-out green. I always take pictures of this weathered and washed-out green bungalow when I am in town. I do this because I know that one day I will visit this area again and this house will be gone like so many other old structures and houses that I have taken for granted. Nothing lasts forever and this house is one of the last remaining structures in Caliente. It just seems that each time I visit this town, another piece of it is gone.

I took this photo under bright lights with a white background at my house. To answer the question How can a photograph emphasize colors more than the subjects that create those colors? This photo does this by having bright colors that work well with each other to catch the viewers attention and the keep it by having them see the subject. For this photo there was minimal editing with brightness and saturation. The size is 10.82in by 9.54in 300ppi. The medium is digital photo.
