After hours of rain the rodeo show started. It was a battle of mud. Impressive experience although from my point of view this kind of horse sport could be criticised.
Nach stundenlangem Regen am Morgen war die große Rodeo eine einzige Schlammschlacht. Eine durchaus beeindruckende Veranstaltung, obwohl ich diese Form von Pferdesport eher kritisch sehe.
Often on my walks around town I take my bucket and litter picker along and clean up what I can , on the whole the city is very clean and on this day I did around 10 to 12 bucket fulls. every bit helps that is for sure.
With all the new developments downtown, the only view of the Calgary Tower is from the south. I remember when you could see the tower from all sides of downtown.
From the archives. Larry doesn't really like visiting local museums... He gladly visits museums anywhere we travel, though... On this day, we were showing Calgary to his brother, and he decided seeing Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, wasn't the worst thing to do in our home town.

Work is completed creating an urban basketball court on the corner of 4th Street and 8th Avenue Southeast, beside the National Music Centre at Studio Bell.
On top of the full basketball court, the site will also include ping-pong tables, Snakes-And-Ladders, four square and art murals.
The vacant lot was used in the past as an interim parking lot and at times was turned into a retail park with shipping containers for local businesses.
The project cost around $40,000 and was first thought up when the new Central Library was being built as a way to bring more people in from the popular RiverWalk,

This shot isn't SOOC, but has had very little treatment. The color comes from playing around on the white balance settings, plus a nice golden sky to help out :-)
Once the tallest structure in Calgary, the tower stands at 191m (626 ft). Every night it is lit with different colors, for specific organizations, causes, and events. Tonight's was for the University of Calgary Fall Convocation.
