Gaius Julius Caesar as Pontifex Maximus.
Gaius = his first name
Julius = the family name
Caesar = the particular branch of the Julian family he belonged to.
opening night. when i first moved to windsor i hated this ugly eyesore of a building, but it's begun to grow on me, which means i may be turning into a true windsorite. peter and i have only been inside once, at 3 in the morning with phil and lisa while walking home drunk from downtown, and only then because phil was hungry and i had to pee. it was eerily empty and quiet inside at 3 in the morning, until we turned a corner into a giant room where row upon row of glassy-eyed old ladies robotically pushed the buttons that slowly sucked out all of their savings. peter did some quick mental calculations to figure out how much money a person could lose in one minute of button-pushing on the slot machines, and we beat a frightened retreat, never to return.
it'll be interesting to see if the place continues to bring in the calibre of performers they've got lined up for the first few months. not that much of the current lineup is to my taste, exactly (billy joel played last night for the grand opening) but still. not a lot of big names come to our town.
peter and i both found ourselves wishing that ugly brown-on-brown apartment building had been torn down to make room for the casino expansion (the tower on the left is the old casino windsor tower, and the one on the right is new). yeah, the casino is butt-ugly but it's an ugly with character. that apartment building on the right, however, is totally awesome.

This location opened in June 2022; it operates out of the kitchen of what was originally an Arby's, which was built and opened in 1999 and closed in 2007. It became Alley Café in 2008, which closed in 2018.
I haven't seen this concept anywhere before, but it's a cool idea. The menu is simplified and is entirely Hot-N-Ready, so stuff gets baked in the kitchen throughout the day, is placed in the warmers, and is grabbed by the customers and rung up at the convenience store's register in the same building. The Northern Neck otherwise has no Little Caesars locations, so a smaller version of it operating here is surely a welcome addition for the locals (Kilmarnock had a Little Caesars in the late 1980s-1990s, though).

Pichiavo work in oil, acrylic, and spray paint on surfaces that range from canvas to sculpture to street walls. Faithful to the heritage of classical art, the duo incorporate elements of philosophy, history, and ideals of beauty into urban art.

This caesar salad is a all-time family favourite complete with a creamy dressing, crispy bacon and french bread croutons. I adapted a recipe my mom used when I was growing up. For the recipe, visit: www.ourkitchenisland.com/2009/09/caesar-salad-recipe.html
If you ask nicely, perhaps the theatre ushers will let you and your lovely lady dance Rumba and Salsa in the aisles during the show. You two may want to first take a refresher dance lesson at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio down the street on E. Harmon Ave. and S. Maryland Parkway.
After the Show don't forget to stop by at Spago in the Caesars Palace Forum Shops for dessert. Try their Peach or Strawberry Cobbler with a scoop of Brown Sugar Ice Cream -- Life Is Good!
Caesar, Gaius Julius (100-44 BC)
Templum Divi Iuli sits on the site of the funeral pyre of Julius Caesar. Augustus had the structure built after the battle of Actium.
Today one sees several portions of the foundation. It is thought that the altar on which Caesar's body had been cremated was in the center of a platform in the temple.
"Men at some time are masters of their fates: The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings". - (Julius Caesar Act I, Scene II).
"Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more". Julius Caesar (Act III, Scene II).
"Beware the ides of March". - (Julius Caesar Act I, Scene II).
"This was the noblest Roman of them all". - (Julius Caesar Act V, Sc. V).
