As I said, things get tight when the cable cars pass one another and each has a full load. The cable car operator literally asked people to lean back in and for those who were sitting to make room for the standers to squish themselves into the car. According to one guy – who had apparently been a local way back when – he said that the “rules” related to cable car riding had been loser in the past. People used to be able to cram on, leaving just enough room for the operator to have space to maneuver the clamp and the brake. His theory was that the city didn’t want to be sued when some tourist got too cramped in a car, so the operators now were more strict about meeting “normal” seating and standing requirements. All the same, the rides were indeed unique and we were glad that we can make them part of our trip.
The Mayrhofner Bergbahnen illuminated the cables of the cable car at night.
In reality this one looked much better.

My family and I went to Genting Highlands!!
I can't believe that I could go up by cable car! It was really super-high!!
It was amazing!!
There's two cable cars on one track connected together by a cable that runs from one car, to the top of the mountain, then back to the other car. As one car goes down, the weight pulls the other car up. Half way up the mountain, the track splits into two for about 200 feet. The two cars pass each other at that point. There must be little to no electricity usage...clever.
