Chicago Surface Lines "Matchbox" 1374 (St Louis 1905 order 715) @Illinois Railway Museum 7-4-90 Cornwall Street Railway 14 can be seen on the right.
The Matchboxes were too small for even the lighter lines in Chicago. As more of the lighter lines were converted to bus and as the PCC's made larger cars more available, the y were gone from revenue service by the CTA takeover. 1374 survived by being converted to a salt car to de-ice the streets in winter. This is a good restoration job.
