Downbound on the Saint-Lawrence river at the eastern edge of Lake St-Pierre is Canada Steamship Lines's Nukumi, bound for the Seleine Salt mine in Grosse-Île, QC (Magdalen islands) from Montreal.
I gotta say she's looking pretty rough for a ship built in 2022.
Looking a little worse for wear, the CSL TADOUSSAC is upbound for Duluth Superior. Downtown Detroit is providing the backdrop.
The 1969 Collingwood-built CSL TADOUSSAC is upbound for Superior Wisconsin. Transiting locks and making docks sure takes a toll on paint.
Arriving off Lake Ontario, CSL's FRONTENAC approaches Lock 1 at the Welland Canal. She is destined for Thunder Bay.
CSL Laurentien is seen headed upbound along the Welland Canal as it approaches the Garden City Skyway in St. Catharines, ON.
CSL St-Laurent at Iroquois en route to Thunder Bay with The Sea Keeper, a work of art commemorating Canada 150 and Montreal 375, displayed on the accomodations block.
The Sea Keeper, conceived by Montreal urban artist Bryan Beyung, depicts a Canada goose with its wings spread in flight, the forward motion a tribute to Montreal and to Canada. The Canada goose is a common sight along the St. Lawrence River and the mural represents the vessel sailing in harmony with nature. Canada Steamship Lines chose the St-Laurent, built in 2014, to display the mural because her name honours the St. Lawrence River and the bulker is part of the new generation of high-performing and environmentally responsible cargo vessels.

Day 2
Met the CSL Ferbec this morning with one of my old shipmates aboard her.
Marine VHF channel 16 is primarily a channel left clear for distress and security calls, but it can also be used for calling other ships. Just make sure you specify a working channel after hailing the other vessel!
The CSL Tadoussac makes it's way in through the Superior entry while the Algoma Discovery can be seen headed East from BNSF 5. the ice and calm waters made for some nice reflections in the late evening sun.
The Tadoussac has made a couple of visits to Fairport Harbor in the 2020 season and the arrival on July 8, 2020 gave me my fiirst chance to shoot this classic laker. A nice lake breeze was keeping it cooler on an oppressively hot day and also keeping the growing thunderstorm off the shore line. It's a plus that we've had the chance to see her in NE Ohio but never a good thing when a classic gets into salt service.
