Work paid for a class on what was new from CS5.5 to CS6. Perfect time to take some sketch notes as I knew most of this stuff already.
Actually this is from early Monday morning when I was trying to get a meteor shot. After I looking at them I realized that I could stack the photos in Photoshop CS6 to make a star trails shot, actually first time I have tried this.
One side effect was this crashed PS CS6 on my MacBook. I have restarted several times, uninstalled and reinstalled, etc. but now it still hangs every time I try to start PS CS6 so I have dropped back to CS5.1. Still can't figure out how get CS6 going again.

Sicily is a beautiful place. Or can be. One could probably understand that a photographer would be excited to be there, as I certainly was. This trip was ultimately a lesson for me. I took a relatively untested camera to a land of beautifully contrasty skies, brilliant vistas, and Roman temples, only to learn that the spring on the camera's take-up spool was apparently sprung and not keeping the exposed film rolled tightly. I then stubbornly lost most of four more rolls of film.
Now, I know perfectly well to only use tried-and-true equipment when it really matters, because I've learned that particular lesson before. Thus, the lesson for me was one of humility. So, with all humility, here is some of what I managed to salvage.

It was getting dark by the time we reached Clava Cairns, a 4000 year old burial site looked after by Historic Scotland. The film in my camera was way too slow for the lack of light, so my only successful images of the visit were those where I was able to set the camera on something. The site has well preserved burial cairns and stone circles.

...via gondola lift (cable car). This was a throw-away shot, but I liked the colors and overall mood so I didn't delete it. Since my office project is almost finished (notice no activity in over a month) I was able to put my tower together and load CS6. I decided to throw this image in the oil paint filter and see what it spat out. To be fair, I liked the image originally, but it wasn't quite sharp enough to stand on it's own, something about shooting at 1/40th a second at 50mm from a moving car.......
