About Semuc Champey, Guatemala
Semuc Champey is a natural monument in the department of Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, near the Q'eqchi' Maya town of Lanquín. It consists of a natural 300 m limestone bridge, under which passes the Cahabón River. Atop the bridge is a series of stepped, turquoise pools, a popular swimming attraction. Although it can be difficult to get to, Semuc is becoming more and more popular with travelers.
Remember that the water in my pool had turned green with algae?
With a strong dose of algaecide and three cleans later, the water is back to perfect condition. If you pixel peep this picture, you can see the pattern of grouting in the tiles at this, the deepest end of the pool.
The water in this small pond was so clear that you can see the change thrown in the bottom of it. As a disclaimer, do not throw change in these pool as they can cause the water to beocme toxic.
The water down here is so crystal clear it's unbelievable. Absolutely wonderful place. I hope to go back sometime and get some better pictures.

Taken with the Canon 50D and 100mm F2.8 IS. I was out taking floral shots this day after a morning rain. The sky was cloudy and had good even lighting. Suddenly, the setting sun emerged for a brief instant and these droplets lit up like crystals. I quickly moved my tripod and focused on the largest drop. I love the way the light refracted in the droplet. I'd like to try more of these shots in the future.
