The ledge I was standing on during this shot was just a few feet above the water's surface, however, the water itself was about four feet deep at this shot. The water was beautiful and clear, unexpectedly clear! Someone informed us that the visibility of the lake on this day was superb, far better than it had been for a very long time!
With the scenery from the inside of Horseshoe Curve looking better than ever without a wall of trees surrounding the tracks, 65K rolls into view approaching the park with a pair of D9-44CW's and one of the seven former ASTF SD75M's that were still around at the time pulling the empty ethanol train uphill from Altoona towards Gallitzin and Johnstown.
