I decided to set up on the cliff for a long session watching the local kids tear up some small clean conditions at sunset. The new Canon 400mm prime made my job much easier and the light from the setting sun was golden and sumptuous as they slammed into the wave and into clean barrels like this one. I have to remember not to pan with the wave if I want sharp pics as this lens does not come with Image Stablization. The more colorful boards stand out better in the whitewater so let that be a lesson young hopeful surfers. Color gets you noticed.

125 lbs. of one of the most lovable and good looking dog I've ever met! On top of that, he is a service dog at a local Hospice. Love at first sight!
Redang Island, locally known as Pulau Redang or just "Redang" is one of the largest islands off the east coast of Malaysia. It is one of nine islands, which form a marine park, and which offer snorkeling and diving opportunities. Access is from Merang or Kuala Terengganu on boats operated by the resorts; there is also a small airport with services operated by Berjaya Air from Singapore (Seletar Airport) and Kuala Lumpur (Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport).
The island is also an important conservation site for sea turtles. Previously, the indiscriminate economic exploitation of turtle eggs had caused fewer turtles returning to nest on the island. This has led the Terengganu state government to set up the Koperasi Setiajaya Pulau Redang in 1989, a cooperative aiming to develop and manage socio-economic programmes that could improve the livelihood of Pulau Redang locals without endangering its natural resources.[citation needed]
The Pulau Redang archipelago comprises Pulau Redang, Pulau Lima, Pulau Paku Besar, Pulau Paku Kecil, Pulau Kerengga Kecil, Pulau Kerengga Besar, Pulau Ekor Tebu, Pulau Ling and Pulau Pinang. Pulau Redang is the biggest of all the islands in the Marine Park, measuring about 7 km long and 6 km wide. Its highest peak is Bukit Besar at 359 metres above sea level. The boundary of the Pulau Redang Marine Park is established by a line linking all points 2 nautical miles (3.7 km) from the shores of Pulau Redang, Pulau Lima, Pulau Ekor Tebu and Pulau Pinang. The other nearby islands of Pulau Perhentian Besar, Pulau Perhentian Kecil, Pulau Lang Tengah, Pulau Kapas and Pulau Susu Dara are also gazetted and protected as Marine Parks. Today, only the bigger islands like Redang, Lang Tengah, Perhentian and Kapas have resort facilities for visitors. The management of Marine Parks primarily involves protection of the sensitive marine and terrestrial ecosystems by controlling the impact from human activities. These include waste & pollution management and conservation of coral reefs and terrestrial habitats.
Underneath is 10M+ (or 30M? I forgot) deep while still can see the bank thru crystal clear water. Over there is a diving boat. Similan Is, Phuket, Thailand. April 04.
Picture taken from a not so spectacular view at the Crystal Mountain Resort parking lot, by Mt Rainier. Very clear night, though.
As part of our blitz tour of Southern California we decided to head inland from the coast to check out Sequoia National Park (we are National Park junkies). We traveled from the cold coast to the 100 degree plus interior. It was quite a change but I wanted to show Heather the big trees. One other thing - Heather started exercising a few months ago - now instead of complaining about walking she's turned into a gazelle/mountain goat like walker. We pulled off at a small turnout to check a waterfall way below us - next thing I know she is in the water, chilling out. After that we went to Moro Rock - a highlight of the park - many, many steep steps but that was no obstacle. Zoom zoom, she's on top. Trees? She was busy climbing them. All in all a good day but I was exhausted watching her constantly in motion.
