Still no mattress (darn Pali and their odd-sized cribs), but a mobile and bumper have been added. Of course we found out after putting the mobile together that you can't rock the crib with the mobile attached!
We finally got a crib and we're totally happy with it :) We paid $80, and it's got a drop side, 3 mattress level heights, and a drawer underneath. It's got a few nicks, but nothing major, and when the crib originally retails for $300, I can't complain :) I think it looks great, and I can't wait to get the rest of the room together!

This is the base that'll sit on a 1x2 stand; each space will fit a single drawer, around two feet deep, two feet wide, and around 9" tall. The top of the base is the exact size of a crib mattress. The front slat is cherry -- I figured that since I'll be attaching the crib front to that slat, it should be a good hardwood that resists the sheer force I'm sure our kid will exert against it. :)
(Don't worry that it's warped -- that's just our basement floor, which is the furthest thing from level you've ever seen.)

Brenda Baker’s installation Crib re-conceptualizes the meaning and function of a corncrib. Instead of mundane storage bins, Crib becomes a beacon of color and light that draws passers-by into the landscape. Using existing structures and a combination of natural and man-made materials, the piece plays off the colors, topography, and scale of the landscape. Baker is a practicing artist in Madison, Wis., where she lives with a flock of small farm animals, two boys and her husband. She works as Director of Exhibits for Madison Children’s Museum, and is deeply involved in both sustainable design and urban agriculture in education movements.

Crib Goch (Red Comb) forms part of the Snowdon Horseshoe mountain range and a favourite for climbers and ramblers.
I've been looking at baby bedding online, and everything I like is on the spendy side. Like this set from Dwell, and this other one from Nurseryworks. So I was thrilled today to find this set at the craft sale, in a style I love and a price that was far more affordable...and I'm supporting local artists with my purchase.

As new baby bed. This crib is spotless! It was used at the inlaws when we visited from Tokyo and only used a handful of times. New 10,000 yen, asking 5,000. Delivery possible.
This was my weekend nesting project. Cleared the space in our room (which involved lots of going through stuff and moving stuff around) and broke down the crib that has been up in Stephan's room as a "couch"/storage space for stuffed animals to move it to our room. Glad it's done!

First shot from my trip to Snowdonia couple weeks ago. I wanted to start with something moody and and bit different than the usual colorful photos I post.
This was taken on the way up to Snowdon. Looking at Crib Goch, shrouded in cloud, from Llyn Llydaw. As I went up higher, the views changed from zero visibility to very dramatic contentiously with zero visibility above 2500 ft or so...
It was my first time up Snowdon, and I picked the perfect conditions for it! I had to put on crampons towards the top as it was getting very slippery from compacted snow. It was fun watching people slide down on their bum as a quick way of getting back down....
