The bright setting, the expression of critique, and the high contrast value tie this photo into my concentration. This self-portrait catches the eye due to its deep and interesting scenery as well as the abstract addition of the flying umbrellas. Also, the rule of thirds coupled with the figure ground relationship allow for this photo to really work well. In addition, I added a high clarity effect to allow the photo to naturally blend into others of my concentration.
Editing-wise, I adjusted the whites, blacks, exposure, contrast, levels, clarity, and vibrance. I also layered together around five different photos of the umbrellas flying around the setting.

We humans are social beings. We come into the world as the result of others' actions. We survive here in dependence on others. Whether we like it or not, there is hardly a moment of our lives when we do not benefit from others' activities. For this reason it is hardly surprising that most of our happiness arises in the context of our relationships with others.

Photo of a Pangolin figurine. Figurine is 7"w by 3"h
Flickr Friday theme: "scales"
Pangolins are very unique, being the only mammal with scales to protect their outer body.. Their scales are made of keratin, the same substance found in our finger and toe nails.
Pangolins are shy animals whose life is centered on feeding on various species of termites and ants. In the wild, they play an important role in keeping huge termite colonies in check.
Pangolins are in high demand in southern China and Vietnam because their scales are believed to have medicinal properties in traditional Chinese and Vietnamese medicine. Their meat is also considered a delicacy. 100,000 are estimated to be trafficked a year to China and Vietnam, amounting to over ONE MILLION over the past decade. This makes Pangolins the most illegally trafficked animal in the world!
Conservation efforts are exacerbated by rapid deforestation of their native habitat. Having Pangolins in top notch zoos for breeding has proved difficult. They are extremely susceptible to pneumonia and other commonly transmitted diseases that most animals in zoos respond well to medical intervention. Preventive vaccines and other medicines for diseases that can be treated symptomatically are not successful in Pangolins.
DOES ALL OF THIS MEAN PANGOLINS ARE ON A ONE WAY ROAD TO EXTINCTION? NO! Efforts to "follow the money" made from exploitation of Pangolins may yield better results than trying to "follow the Pangolins" captured for trade. If the money dries up, so does the major incentive to traffick in Pangolins.
What can we/you do? Look into Conservation groups and see what they are doing and how we/you may help. Oddly enough, the news that Pangolins are THE MOST illegally trafficked animal in the world, is being met with increasing desire to be part of the solution to save them.
HOW TO HELP PANGOLINS UPDATE:
I researched and found an organization that is involved with saving the Pangolins, as well as other species. It is the WILDLIFE CONSERVATION NETWORK. Their website is Wildnet.org . It has attained a 4 star rating from Charities Navigator, the highest rating that can be given. Charities Navigator rates charities of all kinds. The 4 Star Rating means contributions go directly into actions to help those in need that a particular organization is involved with. Their overhead costs are met in other ways, contributions are used exclusively to help save those in peril. Pangolins are very much one of the species the Wildlife Conservation Network is striving to save! Check them out: Wildnet.org
Consider this image as a capstone to a beautiful, interesting photographic afternoon at the shore of Fanari at Xanthi's prefecture ... An afternoon that actually taught me that there is no such thing as unsuitable photographic conditions for landscape photography ....
If you master your equipment's potential, every moment, every day of the hour, every place, every shooting target can practically give you an interesting image !!! And still have after this effort your equipment intact, to keep on shooting ......

For the Happy Caturday group theme "Poem or book".
When we adopted Jeffrey, he already had his name.
A British friend told us about this famous poem by Christopher Smart (1722-71):
"For I will consider my Cat Jeffrey.
For he is the servant of the Living God, duly and daily serving him.
For at the first glance of the glory of God in the East he worships in his way.
For is this done by wreathing his body seven times round with elegant quickness.
For then he leaps up to catch the musk, which is the blessing of God upon his prayer.
For he rolls upon prank to work it in.
For having done duty and received blessing he begins to consider himself.
For this he performs in ten degrees.
For first he looks upon his forepaws to see if they are clean.
For secondly he kicks up behind to clear away there.
For thirdly he works it upon stretch with the forepaws extended.
For fourthly he sharpens his paws by wood.
For fifthly he washes himself.
For sixthly he rolls upon wash.
For seventhly he fleas himself, that he may not be interrupted upon the beat.
For eighthly he rubs himself against a post.
For ninthly he looks up for his instructions.
For tenthly he goes in quest of food.
For having considered God and himself he will consider his neighbor.
For if he meets another cat he will kiss her in kindness.
For when he takes his prey he plays with it to give it a chance.
For one mouse in seven escapes by his dallying.
For when his day's work is done his business more properly begins.
For he keeps the Lord's watch in the night against the adversary.
For he counteracts the powers of darkness by his electrical skin and glaring eyes.
For he counteracts the Devil, who is death, by brisking about the life.
For in his morning orisons he loves the sun and the sun loves him.
For he is of the tribe of Tiger.
For the Cherub Cat is a term of the Angel Tiger.
For he has the subtlety and hissing of a serpent, which in goodness
he suppresses.
For he will not do destruction if he is well-fed, neither will he spit
without provocation.
For he purrs in thankfulness when God tells him he's a good Cat.
For he is an instrument for the children to learn benevolence upon.
For every house is incomplete without him, and a blessing is lacking in the spirit.
For the Lord commanded Moses concerning the cats at the departure of
the Children of Israel from Egypt.
For every family had one cat at least in the bag.
For the English Cats are the best in Europe.
For he is the cleanest in the use of his forepaws of any quadruped.
For the dexterity of his defense is an instance of the love of God
to him exceedingly.
For he is the quickest to his mark of any creature.
For he is tenacious of his point.
For he is a mixture of gravity and waggery.
For he knows that God is his Saviour.
For there is nothing sweeter than his peace when at rest.
For there is nothing brisker than his life when in motion.
For he is of the Lord's poor, and so indeed is he called by benevolence
perpetually —Poor Jeffrey! poor Jeffrey! the rat has bit thy throat.
For I bless the name of the Lord Jesus that Jeffrey is better.
For the divine spirit comes about his body to sustain it in complete cat.
For his tongue is exceeding pure so that it has in purity what it wants in music.
For he is docile and can learn certain things.
For he can sit up with gravity, which is patience upon approbation.
For he can fetch and carry, which is patience in employment.
For he can jump over a stick, which is patience upon proof positive.
For he can spraggle upon waggle at the word of command.
For he can jump from an eminence into his master's bosom.
For he can catch the cork and toss it again.
For he is hated by the hypocrite and miser.
For the former is afraid of detection.
For the latter refuses the charge.
For he camels his back to bear the first notion of business.
For he is good to think on, if a man would express himself neatly.
For he made a great figure in Egypt for his signal services.
For he killed the Icneumon rat, very pernicious by land.
For his ears are so acute that they sting again.
For from this proceeds the passing quickness of his attention.
For by stroking of him I have found out electricity.
For I perceived God's light about him both wax and fire.
For the electrical fire is the spiritual substance which God sends from heaven
to sustain the bodies both of man and beast.
For God has blessed him in the variety of his movements.
For, though he cannot fly, he is an excellent clamberer.
For his motions upon the face of the earth are more than any other quadruped.
For he can tread to all the measures upon the music.
For he can swim for life.
For he can creep.
Trapani is often ignored by tourists, who simply consider it a transit destination to reach other famous tourist resorts in western Sicily, but the city is instead a small jewel to be discovered.
To immerse yourself in the characteristic atmosphere of this elegant city, full of Baroque palaces and beautiful churches, enter the maze of narrow streets of the historic center and then move on to get some fresh air on the romantic waterfront.
This was the view from the house I rented for a few days to get a job done in the area.

Tiny flowers shot in London's Kew Gardens... I just love the contrast between the vibrant reds and the range of greens...
consider those times that you hold close to yourself, dear
and who you were with.
how the words rolled off his tongue like thick smoke
yet how suffocation didn't follow,
just a warm sense of surrounding.
consider that last afternoon
when chalk dust covered your hands
and laughter still rang through your ears.
consider how happy you were, dear.
consider.
i know i've been gone forever.
i know.
it's good to be home, yet i leave again soon.
i've been enjoying the summer and creating memories that i shall hold with me forever
hope you are all well

I have many, what I would consider close contacts – they see my photo and always pop in to comment or have a chat – regardless of whether the photo is good or not – I do like that sort of contact – although the relationship is only a sentence or two once in a while when I post a photo – they are probably the reason why I stay on flickr. One of these frequent visitors is Bonnie who has been a dear friend throughout my time on flickr. She lives very far away from my home and we might never meet but she is an important part of my flickr life. Pop over to see her photos and you will see her great use of the camera – her passion over animal and bird welfare especially the love of ducks and her great warmth – honesty and humour.
I took this photo for Bonnie the other day. It is just not any duck – it is one of 6 ducks owned by one of the people I visit who has a learning disability. This person has had a hard time of it recently and the people who support them bought the ducks. And it really is working in making this person deal with some sad issues. The smile I get now when I visit is a delight and instead of going into the house for a chat we spend a lot of the time with the ducks. This person feeds and takes great care of them. It has turned out to be the best therapy in the world for this person right when they needed it. Whilst I sit in the sun watching this person with their ducks I think of Bonnie and how she would just love to see what I see.
You are a very good friend Bonnie and long may our friendship last.
Visit her on this link and say hello from me:))

Have a good day everyone.
Over the years I have taken close to 25,000 photos of my feminine persona. If you consider that I have posted about 3,400 here, that is less than 15% of all the photos I have in my library. Cristy is quite photogenic and 99% of the photos I take are good enough for posting so, how do I select which ones to post? Simple, I select the ones I like based on what I consider acceptable feminine deportment and appearance.
Since the beginning, my intention has been to share my feminine illusion efforts with likeminded people; not to get comments but rather to contribute to set a standard of tasteful and respectful emulation. Poise, attitude, choice of clothes and accessories, are among the factors I take into consideration. My inspiration comes from every single woman that I see and admire for her presentation and deportment. For me it is not a fetish for any item, but rather a representation of how women, my age, currently present. For instance, I don’t wear nylons because women do not wear them anymore and not because I don’t like them.
Fashion is important to me, but I select my clothes based on what I like and consider that would look good on me while reinforcing my feminine illusion. I wear mostly French manicure on my fingernails and toenails because that is what I like. You will never catch me wearing any unusual or trendy nail color or ornament, just because it is in fashion. A woman who is confident in herself wears what she likes and not what a trend sets, or others suggest. That is the kind of woman that I’d like to think I represent. I post old photos along with more current ones because it is not about how I look or what I wear today; it is about the art of feminine illusion regardless of time, fashion or whether it is the first or the Nth photo in that outfit and location.
After explaining my approach, I hope that when you look at my photos, you can see beyond what I am wearing and appreciate or criticize how I am wearing it, and how I measure in performing the feminine role based on that approach. Thanks to my approach, I have always received respectful comments and, over the years, l have deleted very few of them and have had to block less than a handful of people. I read and appreciate every single comment and even more so when they address what I had in mind when posting the photo. However, you should not feel obliged to comment unless you really feel like it and believe that you got something positive, or negative, from the photo, the title, or the text that goes with it.
From now on I will try to share why I choose the photo I am posting and will start with this one.
This photo is the first I will share of a long series of photos taken before and after my first ever religious service as Cristy (more about that in the future). In general, I’d like to think that my choice of clothes was appropriate for the occasion and that I was able to blend in, although I realized that I was a bit overdressed. A very feminine fit and flare dress with colorful flower print, by Maggie London, was, in my opinion, quite suitable, as were the Kate Spade flats that completed the look for Church. Nothing flashy or revealing here, as it should be. This dress would look great with a pair of heels too but would not be appropriate for attending Catholic Mass. For the pose I tried to be as demure as possible with my hands resting on my lap and my legs crossed in a very feminine manner with my feet pointing down (something that I find hard to do because my articulations are quite rigid).
_____________________________________________________________
So, consider this a "scrap"
I tried really hard to turn the prison breakout scene from Guardians of the Galaxy into a LEGO set and after like a million revisions of the model I really hated it! This was my final attempt, and I still don't like it.
The red screen can lift up, it's a prison cell. The entire top of the tower can detach and fly off like the movie. The little guard droid can shoot studs. Rocket can climb up Groot's shoulder. Shoot studs.
No alternate images cause there's nothing else to show but the inside of the tower which is pretty much nothing.
Maybe in the future I'll revisit it and finish the box art and make the model better but for now this is what I'm finished with and.. I give up ! Now I can work on something new :)
Considerate alcune ultime esperienze penso...e mi chiedo "ma perchè non ho chiesto subito" Are you borderline?

I consider myself to be so fortunate to have these beautiful creatures visit the backyard on a regular basis for a snack, I get to see and photograph them and it is a joy just to see them!
I hope everyone enjoys this close up. BTW.....my deer shots are almost exclusively taken through the window, they are much too skittish to go outside, when I do they bolt!

The Birmingham Main Line Canal in West Bromwich, Sandwell, West Midlands.
In 1767, several prominent Birmingham businessmen, including Matthew Boulton and others from the Lunar Society, held a public meeting to consider the possibility of building a canal from Birmingham to the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal near Wolverhampton, taking in the coalfields of the Black Country. They commissioned the canal engineer James Brindley to propose a route. Brindley came back with a largely level route via Smethwick, Oldbury, Tipton, Bilston and Wolverhampton to Aldersley.
An Act of Parliament was passed to allow the building of the canal, with branches at Ocker Hill and Wednesbury where there were coal mines. The first phase of building was to Wednesbury whereupon the price of coal sold to domestic households in Birmingham halved overnight.
By 6 November 1769, 10 miles (16 km) had been completed to Hill Top collieries in West Bromwich, with a one-mile summit pound at Smethwick. Brindley had tried to dig a cutting through the hill at Smethwick but had encountered ground too soft to cope with.
On 21 September 1772, the canal was joined with the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal at Aldersley Junction, however Brindley died a few days later.
Over the next thirty years, as more canals and branches were built or connected it became necessary to review the long, winding, narrow Old Main Line. With a single towpath boats passing in opposite directions had to negotiate their horses and ropes.
In 1824 Thomas Telford was commissioned to examine alternatives. Telford proposed major changes to the section between Birmingham and Smethwick, widening and straightening the canal, providing towpaths on each side, and cutting through Smethwick Summit to bypass the locks, allowing lock-free passage from Birmingham to Tipton.
By 1827 the New Main Line passed straight through, and linked to, the loops of the Old Main Line, creating Oozells Loop, Icknield Port Loop, Soho Loop, Cape Loop and Soho Foundry Loop, allowing continued access to the existing factories and wharves.
A year earlier he had built an improved Rotton Park Reservoir (Edgbaston Reservoir) on the site of an existing fish pool, bringing its capacity to 300 million imperial gallons (1,400,000 m3). A canal feeder took water to, and along, a raised embankment on the south side of the New Main Line to his new Engine Arm branch canal and across an elegant cast iron aqueduct to top up the higher Wolverhampton Level at Smethwick Summit.
The Smethwick Summit was bypassed by 71 ft cutting through Lunar Society member, Samuel Galton's land, creating the Galton Valley, 70 feet deep and 150 feet wide, running parallel to the Old Main Line. Telford's changes here were completed in 1829.
By 1838 the New Main Line was complete: 22⅝ miles of slow canal reduced to 15⅝; between Birmingham and Tipton, a lock-free dual carriageway.

The last few months I started to feel like something was missing with Zero. I even started to consider redesigning his entire look, even replacing him. Until I realized that the reason I felt this way was because he was still unfinished, and I had just completely forgotten about all the plans I made for him initially. =A= Sometimes the time it takes me to finish my own projects is so ridiculously long that I just never get to the finishing point before I start to forget, despair and eventually sell or replace. The struggle is REAL, you guys. D;
So I decided a little while ago to give him a couple of the tattoos I had planned for him. Starting with a custom neck/henna piece, and also a moon phases tattoo (not really shown here) and I gave him his originally intended septum ring, which I think looks freakin' FABULOUS with this mold. <3
NOW I'M HAVING MAJOR FEELS FOR THIS GUY AGAIN. *A*
Enjoy, everyone~

Apparently some consider this a stubborn perennial lawn weed, I consider it a nice addition to the lawn. Not as numerous as the dandelions but prolific nonetheless. I think of it as a nice welcome to Spring :-)

The Case for Tolerating Wild Violets
Because wild violets have pretty flowers that bloom early and often, not everyone regards this plant as a weed. Many homeowners choose to let these wildflowers grow in their lawns and elsewhere.
There are several reasons for tolerating wild violets in the lawn:
It makes for a low-maintenance lawn.
It avoids the use of herbicide.
The plant is friendly to bees and other pollinators.
Wild violets and other wildflowers can be a great ground cover in moist, shady areas where grass is difficult to grow.
It is conducive to natural landscape design, as wild violets are a native species.2
Wild violets are also edible weeds. Both the flowers and leaves can be eaten, and young leaves have a pleasant nutty taste. Plus, some people use wild violets medicinally. An acid in wild violet leaves is said to break down corns and warts.

The point? It's to bring you in and surround you for a moment in simple grace and beauty. I've no doubt that, in and of itself, this may in fact seem pointless to you. It doesn't change the world outside. Wars continue, capitalism and politics still deal in false hopes and real tragedies. There are still a billion ways to suffer and more than a billion people who are intimately familiar with too many of them on a daily basis ...
That's all very true, but here is something else that is also very true: a group of young girls with dreams of being ballerinas dancing on a Sunday afternoon. And it's there, if you want to look for it: the gracefulness and beauty and power of human expression. It is in these, gifts that art is always willing to give us, that I find the point of it all.

Many consider Gandy Street to be one of the most charming, and interesting streets in Exeter. Lined with bijou gift shops, bistros and restaurants, it is an essential stop for those visiting Exeter.

It had been a while since I've shot any water, so I went down to the old Rhyne Mill on the South Fork River in Lincoln County, NC and took a few of the river and cascading water. It was a very nice foggy morning.
Santiago considers notions of home through memory with a scene from a childhood trip to Trinidad, from which his parents emigrated to Canada. Recalling the radiant energy of J’ouvert, the opening celebration of Carnival, Santiago depicts relatives costumed for the day’s festivities. Vibrant scarlet circles obscure the couple’s faces, suggesting that the intergenerational knowledge and memory can be evasive. By emulating the joys of his parents’ generation, the artist pay homage to his home community despite distance of time and geography.
