Hi hi! It's been a while, I know. With the move to my new apt and working so much I'm surprised I was awake to pull this out tonight.

My body feels contorted like this picture. I've been sleeping on a couch for way to long.

Lack of sleep, tossing and turning and now my cat has to sleep next to me.. Not enough space on that couch for the both of us! alas, she's to cute to push off.

Good night!

Consciousness about the paradox of Schrödinger's human.

She was on me, she layed on me.

Let me go! I could not move, I could not escape.

It was hard to scream, words stopped in my throat and died slowly.

Consciousness froze me, my conscience prevailed.

She was on me.

She layed on me, and I cryed.

Indecision, the leap of consciousness flows, life.

The struggle and pain, hands intertwine and leave no escape.

The inner self calls, cries out your name, prevents you from doing.

It's right.

Or it's wrong.

Jon Rafman’s exhibit Nine Eyes of Google Street View celebrates Google’s technologies and critiques the consciousness it reflects at the same time. In the first narrative film, one man searches for his lost love through Google Street View and Google Earth. The second movie depicts the life of an anonymous Google Street driver, one of the new unrecognized workers of the post-industrial age. In a series of photographs based on pictures of Google Street View, Rafman reintroduces the human gaze and reasserts the uniqueness and importance of the individual.

The work is based on the perception of the cycle of life on planet earth and the consciousness of humans.

12 states of consciousness. Beginning with the number 12 and ending in human consciousness.

This work is complemented by audiovisual work called "life cycle" which is divided into 6 acts. ( I Perception of the Earth, II Life and behavior, III Religion and cult systems, IV Life in the universe, V Technology, VI war).

These works are made to lose money and raise awareness of people around us.

This weekend, a few blocks from our house, crowds filled the narrow streets for the 59th Old Town Art Fair. I was particularly taken with the robotic, metallic sculptures of Lewis Tardy. I photographed this piece, Celluloid Consciousness, with the artist's permission. To find out more about his work go to his website here

Oh La La TANGO

The Heavenly Story behind Oh La La Tango…

From the heavenly heights of beauty and consciousness, descending through the voluptuous clouds of the rooftop Yun Bar, appear the LALAs - 3 messengers and goddesses of femininity, briefly touching the Earth and our hearts through the graces of the Peninsula Hotel on Friday evening, August 29th 2014.

Flowing sensuously through the elegant spaces of this magnificent hotel, the LALAs come to rest, re-cycle and rejuvenate on the 4th floor in the MAUS Artist In Residence Studio suite, the earthly residence of the creator of the LALAs, painter, sculptress, performance artist Aima St-Hunon.

Re-emerging from her latest work celebrating eco-consciousness and creative, sustainable living, the Crystal Cocoon, the LALAs hear the passionate call of humanity..

Sirens of Heaven drawn by Sirens of Earth.

The LALA goddesses, hearing the earthy, seductive sounds of Bukapu below , become the Sirens of Heaven drawn by Sirens of Earth, down through the 3rd and 2nd gallery floors, dancing and interacting with Aima St-Hunon’s sensual paintings and sculptures among the over 60 works and installations by fellow MAUS Artist In Residence Bei Shui.

The LALA’s can smell earthly passion…

Following the sensual music from below, the LALAs descend the classic white bridge of the Peninsula, emerging from between the White Stone Polo Horses to get closer to the earthy, elegant sounds of Bukapu and the people in the luxurious main lobby.

Argentine Tango, the most passionate dance on earth.

Resembling scores of free butterflies attracted to the beauty and vital nectar of Bei Shui’s oversize flowers and freed of their own Crystal Cocoon, the LALAs discover and join the many friends of MAUS and aficionados of Argentine Tango filling the lobby with the most passionate dance on earth.

Bukaopu Concert Saloon - a most seductive, exciting, irreverent variety of entertainment

Delighted to share their expressions of femininity and the connection between Heaven, Earth and People, the LALAs enter the Bukaopu Concert Saloon, a new and exciting, seductive and irreverent variety of earthly entertainment. The heavenly LALAs are drawn to dance with Bukaopu, bringing Aima’s sculptures to life and evoking the spirits of passion, femininity, and the shameless celebration of the feminine form in both men and women.

Finally, having fanned the fires of passion and stimulated guests and visitors with their message of love and Lifestyle Of Health, Happiness And Sustainability, the LALAs ascend back among the heavenly clouds of the rooftop YUN Bar.

Active Assignment Weekly set by benjeev 12th - 19th July 2010

Having only participated in this group for a couple of months, I'm quite curious as to what people on here do outside of Flickr (gasp, there's life outside of Flickr??). So I'm going to shamelessly exploit use this assignment to find out what makes people on here tick. ;)

The idea of this week's assignment is to capture an image inspired by your life's work. Your legacy in life so far. This could be your job, your lifelong hobby, your family, heck, even your car! Anything that best defines the accomplishments you're most proud of in life. How you'd like to be remembered. Tell us the background stories to your shots.

Restriction: None, I think the assignment brief itself is already restrictive enough, so use anything and everything to best convey the idea of your life's accomplishments.

Dare: Don't include people in your shots.

WIT

I can tell you now, that the older you get, the less you feel you have achieved in life! I guess just getting older is an achievement and that's how I feel now. It was once my ambition to retire! Now I have, it is a great feeling. :)

A few years ago, when my husband was very ill, I was in danger of slipping into a big black hole of despair myself, which I realised would do neither of us any good at all.

So, I decided to finish my degree and I chose the most difficult (non technology/computer sciences) subject I could. My reasons for choosing Philosophy was that I knew I would have to run to keep up with this Hons level subject which I had never even touched on before. I had this thought that if it was an easy subject, I would not concentrate as well and would probably give up.

It worked!

So, here's a few of my books. :) The sky background was one I took at the beach a couple of days ago.

I arranged the books in a pile and photographed them. It was OK, but then I decided to apply an effect Distort/Polar co-ordinates in PSE5. This resulted in something far more like the feelings I had when I was studying. Haha! I also had a Greek tutor - aargh! But he gave me good marks and I passed the final exam.

If you are feeling down? Do something really out of your box! It works.

Shiva is pure consciousness. He is the Supreme Lord’s greatest bhakta as he is always meditating upon Narayana. Known as the Lord of Destruction, he stands for the dissolution of the mind, which is exactly what we need in order for pure Love to awaken inside the heart. Through his Grace, Shiva destroys our pride and ego so that bhakti can grow in our hearts and we can rise to attain the Lotus Feet of Lord Narayana.

Our Shivaratri celebrations were hosted live from Mauritius with Paramahamsa Vishwananda and Shree Peetha Nilaya - The Ashram. Festivities included several Shiva-lingam abhishekams, yajnas, and of course, beautiful kirtan by Bhakti Marga's devoted and talented musicians.

Further explorations in the TellaVisions experiment

[ CK ]

I figured, hey, it works with drawing; why not origami? The key to this

sort of exploration is to keep your mind focused on the shapes and

patterns that appear as you are working, and then exploit those within the

confines of the compositional structure. The result is a escheresque

complex of different subjects, related by shape and texture. I'd like to

try this with a more representational style of folding and a larger sheet

of paper at some point, but I don't think I have the technique yet to

create the diverse and versatile forms that would be needed for that sort

of thing.

Folded from (of course) an 8" sheet of bond paper. I took the picture on

the cover of my binder; as you can tell, I like playing with numbers.

Right there I was working on a four-dimensional analogue of Pascal's

triangle; I can post a picture of the whole thing if anyone's interested.

Graphic Minutes

By Barie Fez-Barringten

After Earth Day one and founding Earth Day twowe created and built the loft housing Laboratories for Metaphoric Environments (LME) in Manhattan’s east sixty eight street just across form Avadon’s (the world famous fashion photographer) studios and in a building owned by Mr. Fernandez who ran a high end commercial bakery on the ground floor. In Union Square I had met Adam Alexander who at time was special assistant to Mayor Lindsay. Adam lived on the West side and had several doctorates in mathematics. He somehow decided to collaborate with me to form LME and so from 1971 till 1973 when we left New York for Jackson Tennessee we had conversations which I documented with words and sketches.

What I later called word grams (after the DaDa movement) were my cognitive responses to reify these subjects through my fascination with geometry, graphics, design, drafting, and isometrics extrapolations. Adam knew I was doing this and after looking at my work sheet often would interrupt and say: “yes, that’s right” or ask “is that what you think”?

The previous year I did much the same thing with a graduate student from City College named Phil Winters who would document our conversations into his thesis based on a system he called: “TAG” (trust, authority and guidance). When Adam was not at the lab Henry Classon and I would likewise converse so that he could write the prospectus for LME.

It was only when I was writing and managing trainees and consultants for ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia did I then mount all 63 word grams on cardboard and then with dry mount film glazed each to the cardboard. In 1981 I thought these would eventually be exhibited as relics of the times.

Sadly, Adam disappeared, as had Phil and so many others from this very creative time. In 1972, after packing Plexiglas sculptures, pen and ink sketches, paintings and our personal effects Christina joined me as I assumed directing the architecture department for an insurance company where I designed two Tennessee cities and one village in Belmopan. At that time a local gallery owner invited us to exhibit our art and even a gallery in Memphis exhibited and sold many of my Sheba pen and ink fantasy drawings.

Campus Consciousness Tour

Foellinger Auditorium

Champaign, IL

November 1, 2013

Photographing this show was AMAZING. Seriously. GROUPLOVE's lighting was out of this world - some of, if not THE, best lighting I've ever worked with. Saints of Valory and The Knocks also put on really fun sets, which was totally unexpected for me and made me really happy to get to photograph. The best part was that although I hadn't been cleared for a portrait shoot or interview, GROUPLOVE let me take a quick portrait of them after their show, and their guitarist gave me quite a long interview, too. I'd HIGHLY recommend checking them out, especially live. They are an absolute BLAST to watch and listen to, and put so much energy into their performance that I sometimes felt out of breath just from watching!

Universal consciousness is the radiant luminosity of Love, which has no mass at all. All creation is the result of consciousness. The Super Conscious Mind contains within itself the possibility as well as the probability of creating anything and everything that can be conceived with mind...The possibilities are "Infinite." “As an entity, a soul, a mind, enters [the spiritual dimensions] put about self the cloak, the garment, yea the mantle of Christ; not as a man, not as an individual but the CHRIST that universal consciousness of love that we see manifested in those who have forgotten self but, as Jesus, give themselves that others may know the truth.” Edgar Cayce The ESSENCE is where we perceive states of consciousness and feel and experience them through a matrix of what is known in allegorical metaphysics as THE GARDEN OF EDEN. This ESSENCE has infinite states of consciousness. "The gift of mental power comes from God, Divine Being, and if we concentrate our minds on that truth, we become in tune with this great power." One of the three Toronto rivers represented Ferruccio Sardella's in the living map "Watershed Consciousness" at the Evergreen Brick works in Toronto. This represents the Don River (actually the centre of the map). Unfortunately, I was unable to get into a position where I could capture all three rivers at once. The metal at the top represents the Oak Ridges Moraine, which is the northern boundary of the watershed.

The Don River runs through the centre of Toronto. The portion south of the Danforth is essentially the eastern border of downtown.
