To me, life is all about connections. Connections to others, to self and to the land.

Be true to the game, because the game will be true to you. If you try to shortcut the game, then the game will shortcut you. If you put forth the effort, good things will be bestowed upon you. That's truly about the game, and in some ways that's about life too. ~Michael Jordan

The Cuyama Valley is a valley along the Cuyama River in central California, in northern Santa Barbara, southern San Luis Obispo, southwestern Kern, and northwestern Ventura counties. It is a sparsely inhabited area containing two significant towns – Cuyama and New Cuyama – and is largely used for ranching, agriculture, and oil and gas production. California State Route 166 runs along most of the length of the valley, connecting the coastal communities of Santa Maria and Arroyo Grande with the San Joaquin Valley near Bakersfield.

The valley encompasses an area of approximately 300 square miles (780 km2). It is bounded on all sides by mountains, and the Cuyama River escapes west through a narrow canyon to the Pacific Ocean between the Sierra Madre Mountains on the south and the La Panza Range on the north. The headwaters of the Cuyama River are just north of Pine Mountain Summit on California State Route 33, and the valley widens from there to its maximum width near the junction of Route 166 and 33, near the corner of the four counties, and then it narrows again as the river exits to the ocean between the enclosing mountain ranges. The agricultural portions are in the center, near to the major highway intersection and the two towns, where the alluvium is rich and the valley is a wide floodplain.

North of the major portion of the valley is the mile-high Caliente Range, on the other side of which is the Carrizo Plain. To the east-southeast is the high backcountry of Ventura County, which includes Mount Pinos, the highest summit in the region, and the northeastern extremity of the valley ends at the San Andreas Fault, which forms a low jumble of hills over which passes Route 166; the southern San Joaquin Valley and Bakersfield are on the other side. The Los Padres National Forest is adjacent to the Cuyama Valley on the south, east, and northwest; much of the land to the north, including most of the Caliente Range, is owned by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

Geologically, the valley is an alluvium-filled synclinal basin, at an elevation of approximately 2,000 to 2,500 feet (600 to 800 meters). Most of the rocks are sedimentary, and the Miocene-age Monterey Formation outcrops to the south, in the foothills of the Sierra Madre. Pliocene and Pleistocene sedimentary formations occur in the foothills along the south side of the valley as well. The large Morales Thrust Fault separates the abruptly-rising block of the Caliente Range from the valley itself on the north. Scenic badlands occur in the upper reaches of the valley, north and northeast of Pine Mountain Summit; they are reachable from Route 33 via Lockwood Valley Road.

The climate of the valley is semi-arid with hot summers and cool winters. Almost all precipitation occurs in the winter in the form of rain, although snow has fallen on occasion; only five inches of rain falls annually on the valley floor, making it the driest place in coastal Central California. Since the valley is open to the sea, there is occasional marine influence. The principal native vegetation on the valley floor is grassland and scrub, with chaparral and oak woodland in the hills to the south.

Tony Robinson's memorial on Williamson Street, Madison, Wisconsin.

"My son was never a violent man, and I don't want to see violence in his name," Andrea Irwin, Tony Robinson's mother.

Neighborhood version: A disturbance in the nearby crystal corner bar on Williamson Street demanded attention of police when three persons started running. Tony Robinson was not one of them. Unfortunately Tony Robinson was on the streets at the same time. Police chased him. Neighbors said they heard a shuffle before the gun shots.

There is an armed robbery charge in Tony Robinson's record. Police Officer Matt Kenny who shot Tony Robinson killed Ron Brandon, 8 years ago when Brandon pointed a pellet gun at Kenny. Kenny was not aware it was a pellet gun.

Gaps in the media reports are

1. why the officer kicked down a closed residence door?

2. Police illegally held two underage witnesses under custody for hours

When I visited the site a white woman was shouting repeatedly "they are killing my children".

A study from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee looked at that state's incarceration rates and found they were the highest in the country for black men 13% in 2013. Wisconsin also has the highest rate of Native American men who are behind bars. Brasília (pron. [bɾaˈziʎɐ]) é a capital federal do Brasil e a sede do governo do Distrito Federal. A capital brasileira é a maior cidade do mundo construída no século XX.

English

Brasília (Portuguese pronunciation: [bɾaˈziljɐ]) is the federal capital of Brazil and the seat of government of the Federal District. The city is located along the Brazilian Highlands in the country's Central-West region. It was founded on April 21, 1960, to serve as the new national capital. Brasília had an estimated population of 2,789,761 in 2013, making it the 4th most populous city in Brazil.

Among major Latin American cities, Brasília has the highest GDP per capita at R$61,915 (US$36,175).

Brasília was planned and developed by Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer in 1956 in order to move the capital from Rio de Janeiro to a more central location. The landscape architect was Roberto Burle Marx. The city's design divides it into numbered blocks as well as sectors for specified activities, such as the Hotel Sector, the Banking Sector and the Embassy Sector. Brasília was chosen as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its modernist architecture.

The city has a unique status in Brazil, as it is an administrative division rather than a legal municipality like other cities in Brazil. Nationally, the term is almost always used synonymously with the Federal District, which constitutes an indivisible Federative Unit, analogous to a state. Several satellite cities are also part of the Federal District.

The centers of all three branches of the federal government of Brazil are in Brasília, including the Congress, President, and Supreme Court. The city also hosts 124 foreign embassies.[6] Brasília International Airport connects the capital to all major Brazilian cities and many international destinations, and is the third busiest airport in Brazil.

The city is one of the main host cities of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and will be the host city of 2019 Summer Universiade. Additionally, Brasília hosted the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.

I feel the thin mood of what's about to happen. Spring starts out in the open, then slowly winds its way into the forest. Everywhere past the treeline is a little bit behind, still some scattered snow where the pines crowd close, and everything down on the bottom wants warmth and light. Soon, there'll be ladyslippers blooming, bugs buzzing along the swamps and puddles that only dry in the drought of midsummer. These roads explain exactly what keeps me going, a little question of the curve I'm trying to answer. If I don't know what's around the bend, the pull of finding out will push me that one kilometer further. If my knees are aching, or my mood is dark, there's no better cure than connecting two somewheres by a beautiful middle of nowhere. If I'm all caught up in the twisting and turning, I never feel my muscles burning. There's a high to hiking history, out of the muddy lowlands with all my worries intact. All that changes is my mind.

Nearly four miles northeast of Washington Pass lies a massive peak with a vengeance. Silver Star Mountain, connected by the Vasiliki Ridge and Wine Spires, and separated by a 300 foot deep col, has two summits: the eastern and western. The former [of the two summits] rises at 8,876 feet and the latter rises at slightly over 8,840 feet. At the mountain's west peak's northern ridge is where the marvelous Wine Spires are found. Running south, the Vasiliki Ridge runs from about 7,600 feet to a little over 8,000 feet above sea-level!!

Eight years ago a group started in Milton with the goal to provide a space for those in Milton who were single or couples without kids and it grew friendships. And the group had a huge impact on my life and the lives of others over the course of its life. But now with things changing it came time to dissolve the formal aspects of the group with one final BBQ where it all started in Dempsey Park.
