Eskiyurt itself was a vibrant and beautiful little town. With the coming of the great evil, the War of Sacrilege, the lush outskirts of the village masked the true horror that had befallen the now decimated village. If not for the stench that filled the air, you could be forgiven for being woefully unaware of the brutal massacre that had taken place not too far away.

Tbh, I think the wrong person is wearing the halo.

Sometimes I wonder, if the sea is bottomless, and full of endless possibilities. When do we get tired of it. How many hours do we stare out over the ocean and fall in love with it, every time? Still, it's full of contradictions. Waves and tides. Stream of fresh meets stream of salt. Hot against cold. I though about this when this shot was developed. It's and army against the navy. There's always a settlement.

The lion (Panthera leo) is a species in the cat family (Felidae). The lion is sexually dimorphic; males are larger than females with a typical weight range of 150 to 250 kg (331 to 551 lb) for the former and 120 to 182 kg (265 to 401 lb) for the latter. Male lions have a prominent mane, which is the most recognisable feature of the species.

A lion pride consists of a few adult males, related females and cubs. Groups of female lions typically hunt together, preying mostly on large ungulates. The species is an apex and keystone predator, although they scavenge when opportunities occur.

Typically, the lion inhabits grasslands and savannas but is absent in dense forests. It is usually more diurnal than other big cats, but when persecuted it adapts to being active at night and at twilight. In the Pleistocene, the lion ranged throughout Eurasia, Africa and the Americas from the Yukon to Peru but today it has been reduced to fragmented populations in Sub-Saharan Africa and one critically endangered population in western India.

It has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 1996 because populations in African countries have declined by about 43% since the early 1990s. Habitat loss and conflicts with humans are the greatest causes for concern. - Source Wikipedia

Out to the Harrison River to check on the Salmon run. Lots of Eagles but less than some years. Water level is up and because I went early the birds were still feeding. Unfortunately it started to rain shortly after I arrived which was annoying but I saw lots of interesting stuff.

Made it through the work week and can now celebrate having four days off and away from the office. Nothing quite like a weekend that equals the work week in length.

Feeling a bit drained this evening as I used up a lot of my brain power for problem solving and such today, but I did manage to get through a lot of things and continue playing catch up while keeping up with my regular tasks, so I guess I can't complain. A productive "Friday" is a good "Friday".

Tried a panorama of the sky over lunch hour today; it didn't quite turn out how I would have liked it, but there's still something about it that catches my eye, so instead of relying on my backup floral shot, I'm just going to go with it.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

I saw a commotion in a pond. Assumed a male dragonfly had pounced on a female, but looking in detail, it seems that one male has grabbed another by the front of the head and forced it into the water. Both eventually flew off. I am pretty sure these are Hawkers, but exactly which? Opinions on what species are here welcome.

I was walking along a creek and a ruckus broke out above my head. Two squirrels were chasing each other and making all kinds of loud noises. I managed to get this shot just as one was in the process of falling off the branch.

It is important for researchers and doctors to understand more about how people camouflage, because camouflaging might make people unwell. For example, some studies have found that people who camouflage more also have more mental health problems, such as depression or anxiety. It is important that we learn more about why these mental health problems happen, so we can help people to feel better..." I find that we must reflect on the good and the bad that comes with autism. My experiences vary: I can be so happy and joyous that I will stim (reactions/movements that autistic people may do when there's a sensory overload or an overwhelming sense of joy or stress.) But then I can also feel very low and drained, this can be due to masking for a lengthy period of time; long social interactions and intense 1-1 situations- often with strangers. 💙

-

These opposite sides of the masking spectrum can be very varying and inconsistent. Now that I am aware of masking and how it is something I do, I worry about the implications from this; how will it affect me as I grow further into adulthood: building my own family and my business. Will I be happy, healthy and me? 💙

-

This photo is a portrayal of the conflict that comes with masking. How it feels to be in the centre of masking, particularly for a long period of time. You feel yourself doing whatever you can to successfully mask, to hide any autistic traits that people might judge. I often feel exposed when trying to mask, like I can't hide and am a witness to my own insecurities. 💙

This topic is approached by considering the 'composition opportunity', 'making it' in this sphere. They may instead act to maintain the precarious working situation we find ourselves in.
