Not the most compelling image, but I was messing around with Lightroom CC on my iPhone XS yesterday and took this is HDR. I was able to clone out his dog tag, adjust lighting and lighten the shadows a bit all on the phone. Nice sharp results I think
Like many of my fellow Legographers I felt compelled to take a LEGO photo commemorating the 2nd, and AMAZING teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Here we have (presumably) Luke with his ever-trusty, and apparently rusty astromech droid R2-D2.
I really tried hard to capture this shot as closely to the original as possible. Not just in content and pose, but composition, lighting, background, atmosphere, and the final color grade. There is a very distinct look to this. Aside from the obvious orange and blue, there is a lot of greens and yellows to incorporate. Overall I'm pretty happy with the results. Please let me know what you guys think! And boy! What a teaser! Huh?!??!!?!?!
There are painters who must,
having found the place, must,
repaint it, compelled to repeat it,
each a variant, yet always the same,
always different
I awake to a perspective that is wide,
always differentiated from the prior,
always almost similar, but never with
the same exactitude, differing attitude,
same longitude, identical latitude,
always different
horizon distanced, in all ways a view
encompassing, duality near, far distant,
harmoniously, eyes open, magnetized
to wake before 6am by the suns modesty,
first light, first clarity, a curtain risen, yet,
always different
am I so blessed or thus cursed, for the urge
to disclaim and ode, compose and thus self-
decompose, analyze, reflect, slice apart, needing
the comprehensive understanding this me/place
scripts the raw appreciation, daily differentiated
always the same
this peaceful venue seizures, chest calmly
pounding at the insistence it commands,
the price I must pay for the prize to praise,
to sing, weep, reward restful sleep with lyrics
eked out, pouring, unsustainable yet finished,
always different
a single May Iris, returns, born from a torrential,
thunder, lightning, sky mayhem, rises by a sundial
greets midst a planted clump, upright rises, lavender,
in a majestic solitary, absent but a day prior, yet mine eyes
failed to witness its discernible emerging birthing creation,
always different,
always the same
here, I am Iris too, always the same, a day aged,
but the differences minute but stolid actualized,
this overnight sensation, my body’s restoration,
what I visualize, indivisible, now visible, realized,
miracle of continuity, unchanging chained change,
always different ,
always the same
wonder, am I more blessed, or a s~lightly cursed being,
my breath restored, wet eyes full brimming, changed,
revived but always modified, a newer old man, whose
sum total always a different number, but in sequential,
compelled to confess, no understanding of this miracle,
always the same,
always different,
this daily visionary miracle

I felt compelled to capture this pose for a number of reasons.
First of all, the Blackbird is one of the few examples where the female of the species is as striking as the male in my opinion. The mottled browns and prominent highlights contrast with the straight jet black of the male, much like the female's turquoise wing-bar in Mallards.
Secondly, there's an awkwardness to the way a Blackbird carries their wings in the standing position that I'm particularly fond of. It's as though they're a bit of an afterthought, hanging down like a soldier's arms. In the head-on position, it's especially apparent.
Last of all, look at those feet! perhaps it's the long toes which although stand them in good stead on large perches, may offer hindrance on smaller surface areas.
Thanks for stopping by.
This wonderful painting was created by my lovely and amply talented Auntie Judy. She painted it for Mum soon after Dad passed away a year ago. I love the artistry of her colourful strokes so cleverly put together. The look of oil painted in acrylic.
When I asked Judy for permission to share her work here she said "Of course …..It was such a fabulous pic of your Dad I felt compelled to do it".
Humbled I am as I took the original photo on the beach before we went to Kapiti Island for the day in 2007. We chose it for Dad's funeral service sheet as we thought it captured his spirit well, his cheeky grin, dimple and a twinkle in his eyes. So cool that Judy captured these in her painting too.
It's hard to believe a year has passed already. I miss him a lot and hold his memory close to my heart. Rest in peace my lovely Dad xxx

Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts. It's so nice to know there are so many lovely folks out there. Thanks heaps for your visits and comments and please know they're always very much appreciated. Apologies I haven't been visiting much recently, my new job is taking over. Hopefully when training is over I will have more time. (Chance is a fine thing!).
Have a fabulous weekend everyone, mine is just about to end! Not that I'm complaining, I will enjoy Monday being Wednesday. (How very Irish of me :)
I think I felt compelled to make this because I've been in such a weird state of mind lately, like.
I've been remembering my dreams a lot more than usual, probably because I've been waking up more than usual (I have this problem where I sleep on top of my arms and they lose feeling so then I wake up and flop around for a while like a fish until they come back online, like at least twice a night...it's kind of painful, actually. It's an issue. Anyways.) It just gets me thinking since I love remembering dreams probably because they're so brief and impossible and kind of meaningless, kind of like life. **wooOooOo*. But really like, I've been developing this thing where I can't justify buying things or eating things if they're not completely necessary (or just really rad. Chocolate cake here's lookin at you kid), because material things are so transient. Like dreams. Full circle, wutt. And I think my mindset's good, in a way, because it's not real wasteful I guess, but at the same time I think there's a certain importance of enjoying those transient things because like, we don't know the point of all this living and shit, so maybe we are meant to enjoy everything that's fleeting and meaningless.
Swear to god I'm not high, I think my brain just always looks like that fried egg in those infomercials about brains on drugs :L
~~The ocean's from Oregon, again; been skulking through them albums lately if it isn't pretty obvious. And if the added me looks familiar then I owe you a big thank you for following me for so long :) it's one of the outtakes from this photo from a while back. This is one of those one-in-a-million moments when my photo-hoarding actually paid off, and I'm loving it so much. Except now this is just reinforcing my belief that I can never ever delete a photo ever, so...not going to think about it.
Sorry for the mind-vomit, as always. But I don't think I am sorry so sorry I'm not sorry. Happy Thirstday. Drank up and all that. Water, a course. Winkz*
Nehh neh, love y'all, be safe, be tru, be u <3
Essence of Love
Love is an interaction
Comes easy with affection
Compelled by
Offering and giving
Interaction of give and take
Running to and from
In a perpetual motion
Like the sign of infinity.
No one keeping score,
Just share
Being aware
Taking care –
Giving meaning to each other’s life
For giving is also forgiving
No demands or power struggles
For love there is no status, but harmony
No straight lines, but curves
No sharp edges, but smooth corners
No darkness, but enlightened knowledge
No deep waters, but clear streams
Love is in everything beautiful
To see the beauty is to know the ugly
To know the ugly is to feel the hurt
To feel the hurt is to know compassion
To know compassion is to embrace kindness
To embrace kindness is to give love
To give love is to fill up emptiness
To fill up emptiness is to be happy
To be happy is to be satisfied
To be satisfied is to feel safe
To feel safe is to be saved
To be saved is to feel fulfilled
To feel fulfilled is to be at peace
To be at peace is to feel at ease

The Coyote-Badger interaction depicted earlier in this series was amazing, but each animal was compelling by itself, too. Trotting toward me, Coyote opened her mouth wide; at first I thought she was yawning. But, no. She let out that famous, high pitched, yipping coyote howl.
I find the set of her jawline really interesting here. Not only does she have large, bone-crushing molars to match the piercing canines, but her jaws are wide-set, making her entire mouth seem enormous. That's a very different look from the rather streamlined, closed muzzle.
I am guessing that this is a female, btw. With their thick winter coats on, it's hard to tell unless you see them urinate. There's no good reason to always default to "he" when describing animals.
Last note: I've sprained my thumb and that has really slowed down my typing, so my comments are likely to be fewer and briefer over the next couple of days.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated warriors on the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, presented them with state awards, and handed combat flags, honorary distinction ribbons “For Courage and Bravery,” and a ribbon bearing an honorary name to unit commanders.
The Head of State emphasized that this holiday celebrates the Armed Forces of a country that knows how to defend itself and stands so firmly that there is simply no one in the world who could afford to disregard our state.
“And even those in the world who still do not believe in Ukraine, or simply do not know enough about our state, are still compelled to reckon with how Ukraine will respond,” the President said.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine now holds strong positions in negotiations precisely because Ukrainians stand firmly in our army, uphold our statehood, and defend our independence.
“While defending Ukraine, our army has evolved to the point that it now serves in many ways as a model for other armies around the world. But the changes must continue, and they will. Our army must be as modern as possible in every respect,” the President stressed.
The Head of State thanked every family of Ukrainian warriors and called on everyone to always remember relatives, friends, acquaintances, and strangers – all Ukrainians who gave their lives for Ukraine. Attendees observed a moment of silence in honor of all fallen Ukrainian warriors.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the Orders of the Golden Star to the families of fallen Heroes of Ukraine. The highest state award was bestowed upon:
Senior Sergeant Ihor Zhuravel. He provided crucial intelligence and captured a Russian radio station, eliminating four occupiers, organized the evacuation of the wounded, and covered their movement. On August 10 last year, he sustained two consecutive injuries but did not cease fire. In this battle, Ihor Zhuravel eliminated about 20 invaders, ensured the regrouping of units and evacuation of the wounded, but was killed by a third injury during artillery fire.
Junior Sergeant Vitalii Karvatskyi. He voluntarily mobilized into the Territorial Defense Forces at the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. He carried out combat missions on the fiercest sectors of the front, including the Avdiivka and Pokrovsk directions. From April 2024, he served as an FPV drone operator on the Kharkiv axis, destroying over 600 enemy infantry and dozens of armored vehicles. Vitalii Karvatskyi was killed on June 12 this year by an enemy FPV drone strike.
Soldier Oleh Yarovyi. In August last year, in the Donetsk region, he defended a position alone for a week against Russian attacks. In December, armed with only one machine gun, he eliminated more than 20 occupiers. Self-taught in drone operations, he used them to evacuate the wounded, deliver ammunition, and adjust fire. Oleh Yarovyi was killed on July 10 this year in a rifle engagement, defending his position to the last.
Three more Heroes of Ukraine were personally honored by the President. Awards went to:
Commander of the 414th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Senior Lieutenant Andrii Klymenko. He participated in the defense of Kyiv and battles in the Kherson, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Donetsk regions. From June to September this year, the unit under Andrii Klymenko’s command struck over 10,000 Russian military personnel.
Soldier Liubomyr Mikalo. He took part in battles in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions from April 2022, repeatedly repelling enemy assaults despite being heavily outnumbered. Wounded several times, he continued defending Ukraine. From May to July, he held positions for 41 days, repelling 17 Russian assaults and personally eliminating at least 25 occupiers.
Junior Sergeant Serhii Tyshchenko. Since June 24 last year, a combat medic has remained on the front lines without rotation for 471 consecutive days, saving the lives of his brothers-in-arms who were holding back multiple enemy assaults in the Bakhmut district. He repeatedly rescued wounded brothers-in-arms at the risk of his own life. Despite the opportunity to rotate out earlier, Serhii Tyshchenko refused to leave his unit.
In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded defenders the Crosses of Military Merit. Recipients included:
Major Vladyslav Kotov. Pilot of Su-25 attack aircraft and MiG-29 fighter jet. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, he carried out 253 combat sorties to cover infantry, destroy Russian aviation assets, and conduct missile and bomb strikes on enemy equipment and forces. He completed dozens of successful operations, destroying six drones, a cruise missile, five command points, and two personnel concentrations.
Senior Sergeant Denys Marin. Volunteer and defender of Bakhmut. He set up tactical medicine training in combat conditions, organized medics, and built a medical evacuation system. Under his leadership, 30 wounded warriors were saved. From January to August last year, he evacuated about 70 wounded defenders, sustaining injuries himself. After treatment, rehabilitation, and prosthetics, he returned to his battalion.
Captain Oleksandr Cherednichenko. Thanks to his actions and coordination with the strike UAV company, on July 25 this year, the enemy's advancement was halted, a position was held, and eight occupiers were eliminated. Over the course of a month, by repelling enemy assaults, Oleksandr Cherednichenko ensured the destruction of more than 600 occupiers using unmanned systems.
The President also awarded defenders with the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, I and II class, Orders “For Courage,” I–III class, and the Order of Princess Olga, III class.
The Head of State presented combat flags to the commander of the 141st Separate Mechanized Brigade, 414th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade “Magyar's Birds,” 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelia,” and the 108th Separate Assault Battalion “Da Vinci Wolves” of the 59th Separate Assault Unmanned Systems Brigade named after Yakiv Handziuk.
Commanders of the 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, 117th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade, 12th Separate Army Aviation Brigade named after Corporal General Viktor Pavlenko, and the 32nd Separate Artillery Brigade received the distinctions “For Courage and Bravery.”
Additionally, the President presented the ribbon bearing the honorary name “named after Hero of Ukraine Valerii Hudz” to the commander of the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade.
So often, you cannot find or physically form the words to express your experience. Maybe you feel compelled to create images to try to show how it feels to live this unspeakable, unbearable, almost unbelievable experience. It may make no sense or have no significance to anyone else and this practice of creating images is a deep, important part of your healing journey.

Recently I became very fascinated by digital pinhole photography. This image was created with a modified pinhole body cap. I think I’m drawn to this type of photography because I feel it relates to my life and it seems to teach me far beyond photography. There are strict limitations that can drastically alter how images are captured and the final outcome of the photos, there is a lack of clarity compared to how I normally capture images with a lens, it’s difficult to predict exactly how the image will look and beauty and meaning can be found in the process and the final photo. It gives me a chance to practice embracing the unfamiliar, change, finding beauty in imperfection and growing in new ways.

As a way to cope with circumstances beyond my control, survive and work to keep fighting for life I decided to try to take at least one photo (or more) each day. I call this “a photo (or more) a day.” Practicing this form of therapeutic photography helps me work to focus on the present moment, gives me something familiar and enjoyable to focus on as I use photography skills that have become like second-nature to me and being able to view the images I capture helps me recall what I was thinking, feeling and noticing at the moment when I created the photos. More of the photos from this series can be seen on my Instagram account
I may not always have the energy, time or capacity to share photos from this series—especially with the very challenging circumstances my family and I are experiencing—and will do my best to continue taking a photo (or more) a day even if I’m not able to share.
If you would like to support my work and my family, one way you can do so is by ordering my zines:
Many thanks for your support.
"For me, the creation of a photograph is experienced as a heightened emotional response, most akin to poetry and music, each image the culmination of a compelling impulse I cannot deny." ~ Ruth Bernhard
Not the most compelling shot, but it is what it is. This is the ice cave at the top of the mountain outside of the Crystal Lake campground int he Big Snowy Mountains of Montana. It's difficult to find a decent picture of these formations, probably due to the 6 miles (one way) + 2200 foot elevation gain required to get there. But it was novel, and worthy of a picture for sure.
Compelling and ornate illustration attributed to former British asbestos mega-company, Turner & Newall Limited (T&N). Caption below image indicates:
" 'Lady Asbestos' -- this symbol of protection was first used in 1918 in publicity material produced by Turner Brothers Asbestos. Designed by Bernard Partridge, it shows in allegorical terms asbestos defending civilisation from the elements."
This intricate and iconic drawing seems to portray a strong sense of reverence for the use of asbestos in service to mankind's industrial technologies; intriguing imagery of asbestos as a metaphorical Greek goddess using a protective shield in defense of human architectural and engineering constructs against certain adverse natural forces.
.
Often when editing an image, I'll create a mask for sharpening using the Find Edges command. In Photoshop it's found under Filters > Stylize > Find Edges.
Then I'll invert it so that everything that is now white is used as a selection through which sharpening can be accomplished. This constrains the sharpening to specific areas.
When I saw this mask I was so struck by the contrasts and detail that I felt compelled to use it as its own image.
Happy Sliders Sunday!
This compelling early portrait most likely depicts Anna Yoshida, the daughter of Manzo Yoshida, a Japanese merchant and proprietor of two Montreal shops selling fashionable trade goods from Japan. Her unflappable composure suggests the precedent of the nineteenth-century French artist Jean-Dominique-Auguste Ingres, whose distinctive portraits in turn reprise those of Renaissance artists.

Last year, this little hydrangea barely bloomed and its color was a muddy somewhere in between what you see in this image. I moved it to a place with less sun and gave it a good feeding with "sweet" fertilizer. Now, the flowers start out a vibrant pink with blue centers and as they age, they turn violet.
Since my photos are no longer graced with Roberto's compelling insightful comments, I figured I'd pay homage to Roberto, 'The Great One' with a very, Robertoesque title.
This is the mittens, in Monument Valley at sunrise, a few days ago. This was also the view right out the window of my motorhome. I had no plans to get up for sunrise that day, as I had been up extremely late the night before working on my computer. I woke up, 'barely' just moments after sunrise, peeked out my window, and saw THIS!!! I thought, "Oh CRAP... I can't go back to sleep with this outside my window." So, I slapped on some pants and a shirt (which I discovered a half hour later, were both inside out) I stepped out the door, slapped up the tripod, and started firing away.
It is sometimes said that each of us is ultimately alone. That idea is compelling not because of birth and death but because so often our moments alone seem more true, more real. I need solitude like I need food and rest, and like eating and resting, solitude is most healing when it fits the rhythm of my needs. A rigidly scheduled aloneness does not nourish me. Solitude is perhaps a misnomer. To me, being alone means togetherness—the re-coming-together of myself and nature, of myself and being; the reuniting of my self with all other selves. Solitude especially means putting the parts of my mind back together, unifying the pieces of my self scattered by anger and fear, until I can once again see that the little things are little and the big things are big.

The artist's trail has begun once again (we didn't visit any last year because of covid) and we began with Palais des Vaches, one of our favourites. This sculpture is on display in the newly renovated courtyard; I thought it a striking and compelling piece of art.

Difficult to fathom how this monument came to be. Maybe a truly inspired person formed it alone, maybe a couple built it together, or it was simply started as a single row by playing children and many hands added to it over time. A collective labor of love. Either way, halving felt compelled to contribute, there is now one more stone on it.
London inspires many to write compelling thoughts and anecdotes just as the grand city on the Thames inspires me to photograph her night after night. Some words are one-off's while others are part of timeless pieces of literature. I've combined famous London quotes with my own night images of London for the ultimate list of London quotes. Feel free to add your suggestions in the comment section below.
London is the epitome of our times, and the Rome of today.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson, Conduct of Life
When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.
-Samuel Johnson
Go where we may rest where we will, Eternal London haunts us still.
- Thomas Moore, "Rhymes on the Road", The Poetical Works of Thomas Moore
Take a perfect day, add six hours of rain and fog, and you have instant London.
- Anonymous
London's like a black-browed brute that gets an unholy influence over you.
- Robert Smythe Hichens, The Woman with the Fan
London is the clearing-house of the world.
- Joseph Chamberlain, speech at Guildhall, London, Jan. 19, 1904
Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner that I love London so.
There's nowhere else like London, nothing at all. Anywhere.
I think London is sexy because it's so full of eccentrics.
It is the folly of too many to mistake the echo of a London coffee house for the voice of a kingdom.
A broken heart is a very pleasant complaint for a man in London if he has a comfortable income.

Sometimes people feel compelled to leave their mark, a lasting imprint or brand declaring "I was here". The Pueblo in Monarch Cave was abandoned at least 700 years ago, yet the personal statements endure.
I am often surprised, when I see a small human figure in a landscape photo such as this, how my eye is pulled to the figure, no matter how tiny. Maybe others have the same experience. Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, PA.
The Royal Canadian Geographical Society has hatched its decision for the bird best suited to represent Canada after a two-year search and 50,000 votes from across the country.
Here are no less than FIFTEEN compelling reasons why my election as the National Bird of Canada is a great choice:
1) Found in all thirteen provinces and territories; it is only barely found in the U.S., in the Rocky Mt. region and Alaska;
2) A member of the corvid family, arguably the smartest birds on the planet;
3) Extremely friendly toward humans like all Canadians, often found panhandling on cross-country ski trails;
4) Very hardy like all Canadians, having highly adapted itself to living in very cold regions;
5) Figures strongly in First Nations folklore, also called the whiskey jack;
6) Is not an endangered species and thus, not at risk of disappearing;
7) Figures prominently in the boreal forest ecological zone, constituting a vast portion of our country worthy of protection and under pressure from clear-cutting and oil and gas development;
8) Not a hunted species, so it is not shot by Canadians;
9) Not an official bird species for any of the 10 provinces and recognized territories nor any other country (common loon is Ontario’s bird; snowy owl is Quebec’s bird)
10) Formerly called the Canada jay by ornithologists; its French name is mésangeai du Canada and its Latin name is Perisoreus canadensis!)
11) Stays in Canada year-round
12) Not flamboyant in its appearance, best representing the conservative nature of Canadians!
13) Not regarded as an obnoxious or nuisance species (like the Canada goose which is culled in the U.S.!)
14) Cannot be confused with any other bird species (99.6 per cent of Canadians cannot tell the difference between a raven and a crow!)
15) Not a circumpolar species, i.e., not found in other northern countries (as are the snowy owl and raven)
There were less reasons for a another guy, who recently was elected ... ;-)
Happy Weekend !
And congratulations to this Gray Jay / Meisenhäher

on top of Sulphur Mountain, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.
Not my usual type of shot but compelling none the less.
I had this put up over the summer, never in my wildest dreams did i imagine nesting would occur in the first year.
I set up my trusty D500 on a Tripod just inside the house with my super telephoto lens attached, complete with lens hood to help reduce reflections as i were to shoot through glass. I set all this up in my office, which looks out over our small wildflower garden and bird feeding area.
I attached the wireless remote, sat in my wheel chair and waited and watched.
Two days later, proof
This compelling portrait of a Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), affectionately named Isaiah or Ike, was captured at the Avian Reconditioning Center in Apopka, Florida. The photograph zeroes in on the eagle's piercing eyes and razor-sharp beak, elements that are quintessential to the raptor's predatory nature. The intricate feather details and the depth of field add layers of texture, creating a photo that is as nuanced as it is striking.
I'm Adam Rainoff, a California-based bird photographer with a focus on conservation. This shot is more than just a capture; it's a narrative, a brief glimpse into the world of this magnificent bird. It embodies my ongoing quest to bring attention to the critical importance of preserving and understanding our avian cohabitants.

### Will Apple Listen to Mark Zuckerberg’s Criticism?
I Don’t Think So—At Least Not for Someone Enchanted by the Apple Vision Pro.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, recently appeared on a well-known podcast, where he criticized Apple for failing to release an innovative product since the iPhone and for experiencing a decline in sales.
Appearing on a podcast originating from Apple and then proceeding to criticize the company might seem like a lighthearted joke, but I believe he was serious.
Why? Because he now wields a weapon—the AR glasses.
With the support of various institutions and a team of highly skilled professionals, he has likely achieved some notable milestones. Yet, as someone who has been a devoted Apple user since the PowerBook 540c, I still do not sense any real craftsmanship or identity in what he creates.
This sentiment extends to other IT giants that currently dominate the world—Meta, Amazon, Tesla, Microsoft, and Google.
Just by listing their names, readers of this text are likely already picturing their respective CEOs.
In the past, I wrote that Steve Jobs was not an artist.
What he excelled at was weaving together scattered ideas from across the world, expanding upon them, and linking them to the future.
The true creator was Jonathan Ive.
A minority of people may share this perspective with me.
However, when I see these IT moguls quickly shifting their corporate stances the moment the possibility of Trump returning to power emerges, I feel compelled to speak my mind.
The AR glasses, the cars—everything they create lacks a fundamental concept.
Call it ideology or, in lighter terms, identity.
It is true that Tim Cook and Apple’s current team have become more prone to letting slip details about upcoming products before their official release.
I have always loved music.
Artists shut themselves in a studio, cutting off the outside world, pouring their anger, hatred, joy, and sorrow into each note with intense focus.
It’s as if they are entrusting something to their music.
And when they finally release their album, they explain the emotions and thoughts behind its creation.
(Prince, whom I admire, rarely spoke about his work, so understanding his art required engaging with the final product itself.)
Until an album is complete and released, artists say nothing.
It was those artists who moved me to my core.
The faint glow of Apple’s innovation still remains within me.
Not even last year’s widely criticized "failure"—the Apple Vision Pro—could extinguish it.
In fact, it shines even brighter than the iPhone.
Because beyond its cutting-edge electronic components, I can sense a concept, an ideology.
Unfortunately, I will never feel the same from Meta’s AR glasses or Tesla’s cars.
I have written at length, but here is the key article:
**Tim Cook Donates Over $1.5 Million to Trump’s Inauguration Ceremony**
🔗 [Gigazine Article](gigazine.net/news/20250104-apple-ceo-tim-cook-donates-1-m...)
At first glance, this might make it seem like Tim Cook, like other tech CEOs, has sold his soul. But that is not the case.
While Cook personally donated to Trump, Apple itself did not follow the same path as other companies.
Apple refused to bow to Trump.
If asked what Apple’s ideology truly is, I would answer this:
**Apple is a group of individuals who believe in themselves.**
Steve Jobs, watching from heaven, is probably chuckling at this overly serious text I wrote.
A company that does not pander to Trump—
That is Apple. :)

8mm film of our honeymoon resurrected after decades.
youtu.be/zH-dG7bMeL4?si=yLF5_f1m-LhAVdPp
We found the 8mm film of our honeymoon for the first time in decades, and burned it onto a DVD.
On June 6, 1993, we got married, and headed straight to Nassau, Bahamas, via New York.
Our destination was the pink sand beach where the late Princess Diana went on her honeymoon.
If you're heading to the Bahamas, this might be a good reference.
The hotel we stayed at was the Ramada Hotel, which no longer exists.
My wife is showing us the hotel room.
But now you can see the beautiful scenery in real time.
When I played the DVD that arrived, it showed footage of our arrival in the Bahamas.
Please take a look if you'd like.
This time, we asked Fujifilm to make the DVD.
I'll post the link below.

Notice regarding "Lot No.402_”.
From now on I will host "Lot No.402_".
The work of Leonardo da Vinci who was sleeping.
That is the number when it was put up for auction.
No sign was written on the work.
So this work couldn't conclude that it was his work.
However # as a result of various appraisals # it was exposed to the sun.
A work that no one notices. A work that speaks quietly without a title.
I will continue to strive to provide it to many people in various ways.

### **Synopsis**
Kei Kitami, a student preparing for university entrance exams, meets Kaori Kamimura, an event companion six years his senior, through social media.
Kaori has come to Tokyo with a dream—to befriend famous artists.
To achieve this, she needs the influence of Ryo Osawa, a well-known radio producer.
During a live radio broadcast, Osawa speaks directly to Kaori:
*"I have a wife and child. But still, I want to see you."*
Meanwhile, Rika Sanjo, Kei’s classmate who secretly harbors feelings for him, is closely watching Kaori’s every move...

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

www.flickr.com/photos/stealaway/54271473379/in/dateposted...
gigazine.net/news/20250104-apple-ceo-tim-cook-donates-1-m...

youtu.be/zH-dG7bMeL4?si=yLF5_f1m-LhAVdPp

I thought so much the other day about why I create and why I feel so compelled to share stories with others. I love hearing different interpretations to inspire my world view. It is exciting for me to try and put as many different meanings into a new work as possible, to find meaning in all things and to work with symbolism.
I went out to shoot by myself, in my favorite shooting spot, and felt wholly at peace while doing it. I thought of so many stories sitting in an underpass with weeds growing all around me. It was quiet and felt safe and it was dark.
To have wings. To lose wings. To use someone else to lift us up. To allow others to help. To demand help. To hurt others to help ourselves.
All of these ideas went into the making of this image, and depending on your world view or state of mind, any of them could equally apply. There was a time when I felt that I couldn’t fly any higher, that I was about to fall. I wished for wings then. There have been times when I needed someone to lift me up, and I found them. There were times when I felt my well being was more important than other living creatures and so I used them to serve me. More and more I try to be like the butterflies, lifting others and myself all the while.
What does the world look like from your point of view? How can you get others to understand that through a visual medium? What symbols are important and present in your life? What do you want the world to understand?
Inspired by mbl_designs, I was compelled to build my own version of the Rock of Eternity’s Throne Room! ...Granted mine’s not nearly as intricate as their build was, but I had a lot of fun with it all the same! :P
I mean what else was I going to do with all those knock off figs I got last year?! I had to build something to feature them, right?! :P
Oh btw e sure to check out the behind the scenes content for this build over on Patreon! ;)

Putting some rubbish out late afternoon I noticed a fantastic (lenticular?) cloud and felt compelled to fire off a couple of hand-held record shots. When my wife called 20 minutes later to ask if I had seen the 'brilliant, weird' cloud I went back out, this time with tripod, to see if the cloud would pick up any colour. With no intention of moving beyond my front garden I was in slippers and a thin fleece but as the sun started to set the whole sky began to take on a 'biblical' appearance. In an ultimately forlorn effort to find some foreground other than street lights and roofs I headed off into the dunes hinterland still in my slippers(!) and managed this as the colour started to catch. Despite eventually finding a lone foreground tree and the colour being even richer, I wasn't quite as happy with the cloud's aspect. Remarkably both clouds and colour lasted for a good hour and a half after sunset but dressed as I was and in a bitterly cold wind, I wasn't able to make the most of these unusual conditions.
While not the best photo, I felt compelled to post this because of the story it tells. We were walking along the beach on Sanibel Island when I noticed a mother snowy plover keeping a watchful eye as her three chicks scurried about on the sand. The snowy plover is a State-designated threatened species as recognized by the state of Florida. It nests in the sand along the beach and as such faces much danger from development and the sheer numbers of people and pets that walk along the shore. The statistical threat is so great that less than one of these three will survive to adulthood.
The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Fund (SCCF) does a tremendous amount of work to search out and protect snowy plover nests as well as many other conservation efforts. Their website can be found at www.sccf.org/. Through their efforts and better public awareness and education we can hope that the plover population can stabilize.
Thanks you or your comments and views!
This picture, in and of itself is really not compelling. There is a story to it though.
I was wading out into the little lagoon to take a picture of the lone plant nestled in the rock. I thought it would be cool.
I took a couple of shots and headed back.
I was walking in the water up to my knees or so. The water temperature was about 80 degrees.
I was mindful that cameras and water do not mix - obviously- so I was being extra special careful. Strap around my neck. Camera cradled tightly against me.
Smiling I was because I felt daring.
Then all of a sudden I felt the worst pain in my toe. My first thought was Oh my god I was just stung by something poisonous and now I am going to die without making it home.
Hence I cursed very loudly. The ensuing dance was not graceful at all.
I thrashed my foot about trying to rid it of the sharp pain. I couldn't yet see the source.
As I hobbled to the beach, swearing and oblivious to the entertainment I had become, the pain seemed worse.
As I repeatedly banged my foot on to the sand ( I really don't know why I did that) I saw the body of something go flying off to the left.
I looked down and there it was, still attached to my third toe, a crab arm, with it's pincher doing it's job, sans body.
I reached down and pulled it off and flung it. I noticed right away I had flung it right at a nice lady in front of me who was kind enough to come to my aid.
She asked me if I was ok, I said yes, apologized for throwing the disattached limb at her and thanked her for her concern. I was not sure my dignity survived but at that moment I could not have cared less.
I never lost hold of my camera and I only briefly looked about to see who was amused by my performance. Either everyone was being kind or they didn't see a damn thing. No one was looking at me. Giggling, I tried to slink away.
I hobbled back to where my friend was reading in our hut.
I must admit I was dissapointed, she didn't see any of it. I laughed that relieved, embarassed, just don't care laugh. You know the one that brings tears to your eyes.
By the way, it was a really small crab.
