Members of the Virginai Defense Force conduct a point of distribution exercise Nov. 3, 2018, in Blackstone and Crewe, Virginia, during a multi-day training assembly based at Fort Pickett. VDF members also conducted evaluations on communication and incident management teams as well as set up and operation of mobile communication platforms, and they also conducted a variety of professional development sessions for officers, noncommissioned officers and enlisted personnel. The VDF is authorized by the Code of Virginia as the all-volunteer reserve of the Virginia National Guard. They are a force multiplier and integrated into all VNG domestic response operations. NORFOLK (June 24, 2016)- Gregg Bauer, on behalf of Advanced Acoustic Concepts, LLC in New York, receives a Navy Employer Support Certificate of Appreciation from Chief of Navy Reserve Vice Adm. Robin Braun during a ceremony in Norfolk, Va., June 24. The certificate is presented by the Chief of Navy Reserve annually during the Navy Employer Recognition Event (NERE) to recognize selected civilian employers of Navy Reserve Sailors. The employers were nominated by their Navy Reserve Sailor employees and invited to attend the one-day event that included tours of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), a static display of aircraft and a demonstration by SEAL Team 18. When conversing with others, a person gets a “feeling” about participants whether they are speaking or not. That “feeling” is one of the nine emotions or twelve attitudes that nonverbal communication creates. Emotions and attitudes are expressed by gestures, postures, positions and distance the brain makes a person perform. They are automatic reactions. Spontaneous. Not rehearsed. Not planned.
Question:
Would you rather trust chosen words to exhibit an emotion or attitude?
Or is it wiser to choose the nonverbal communication which automatically creates that “feeling”?
Use a nonverbal communication app which combines a person’s gestures, postures, positions and distance to truthfully describe attitudes and emotions. Don’t just trust words.
