The vegetables in this display looked wonderful. I was there early, so they were undisturbed... I really enjoy seeing them that way...
The griddle has become quite a multi-tasker. It is now my new sandwich press on the grill :). Tonight's menu -- Tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwich. A classic combination and quite satisfying.
What could be more comforting than gingerbread men, particularly in winter? This was the last of four batches that I made the other week, this batch for a Christmas party for my mother's Karate friends, so they all had coloured belts and faces made from melted chocolate.
Eggplant lasagna. Toasted eggplants with olive oil and pepper, bolognese sauce cooked with wine, paprika, cumin, herbs. Also, buffalo mozzarella, basil, garlic and black pepper. And a prima donna cheese for a great crunchy crust.

Well, it worked for me. Now to take some to my friend for afternoon tea 😁
Thousands of miles from where ramen first began, I find myself savoring every bite as if transported to the heart of Japan. Even here, so far from its birthplace, this bowl of ramen delivers the same warmth, depth, and comfort that has made it a global favorite.
No matter the distance, the universal language of food connects us all.

High Cholesterol, high glucose, high sodium, 120% of the daily saturated fat, chowder. Oh, and the rich yellow is from the 3/4 lb. butter used in this recipe, and yes that is crispy cubed salt pork for garnish. Oh and the saltines have salt on them.
Okay, I ran out of photos to post so this is what you get.
Polenta chips. Roasted and stuffed with herbs, white pepper, mustard and Parmeggiano cheese. Also, cherry tomatoes confit (baked slowly with lots of olive oil, basil, rosemary and garlic).
Yes, it's July 1 and I'm making chili. It's not warm out at all. I should be cutting into a giant watermelon and planning a picnic supper on the deck. Instead, we're joking about putting a fire in the fireplace and wearing mittens on our evening walk.
First step in preparing a turkey vegetable soup paprikash is making sautéed mushrooms and onions in olive oil in a large and deep, heavy gauge stainless frying pan. Then add ground turkey balls. Rotate the balls until they are mostly cooked. (I took some out to sample, with some cucumber marinated in vinegar.) This is shown in the photo. Deglaze the pot with the wine of your choice. Add water, sprigs of fresh rosemary from the garden, and lots of paprika. The amount is to your taste... 😍 Bring almost to a boil. Allow to simmer. Then add diced onions, bell peppers, and celery. Simmer until the vegetables are soft. I then added leftover sautéed broccoli from yesterday's dinner. The soup was great for lunch. There is plenty left for dinner too.
Oh, I forgot to prepare carrots, yams, and potatoes to add to the soup. My Mother Of Blessed Memory, would mash the cooked carrots and yams in a sieve, over the pot, with a tablespoon. They add sweetness, and body, and a golden color.
This gets tougher and tougher! My challenge to you: Can you climb these dark, rich chocolatey chocolate mountains? See that luscious chocolate oozing from the center? Are you drooling yet?
