Cook has taken another day off. But it was Torsdag! Honouring Mr Swede, Torsdag is for ärtsoppa — pea soup — really ärter ock fläsk — peas and pork, served with senap — mustard — and followed by pannkaka or if you're lucky, pannkakor — the plural of pancake, served with raspberry jam, for lunch. For fika there'd be kardemummbullar — cardamon buns —and köttbullar — meatballs for supper.

Only Cook isn't here, it's still Torsdag, and I'm hungry! So instead of köttbullar it'll have to be raggmunk — potato pancakes — with bacon and lingonsylt — lingon berry jam.

Every other potato pancake recipe has told me to grate the potato and squeeze out all the liquid. But this one is wet: milk, salt, egg, flour makes batter with the grated potato just dropped in. Those clever Swedes! Leaving it for ½ an hour after mixing, I suppose the starch comes out of the potato, and against reason the whole thing works!

There you have it: so flat and fantastic that even I can cook it on Torsdag when I'm too exhausted to cook, but not too exhausted to eat raggmunk. It's lagom.

If you have to ask, it's probably too many.

Back for another round at The Cheesecake Factory - because once just isn’t enough. From towering plates to even taller desserts, it’s a place where indulgence is practically mandatory. Whether it’s for the cheesecake or the sheer scale of the menu, this return visit was just as over-the-top and satisfying as the first. Sometimes, a sequel hits just right.

I said "maybe" René is coming home this friday....

just received an email that the heli's don't fly because of the bad weather so

My first try at capturing good food: A beautifully browned crust of gratinéed Gruyère cheese and sliced baguette on homemade onion soup. Heavenly comfort food, made with great love.

We call it French Onion Soup, but this type of recipe and technique has actually been around since the early days of ancient Rome.

Happy New Year, everyone! :) May 2015 be a life-changing year for all!

I enhanced this desert 🍧 shot to brighten it a bit for Macro Mondays Halloween theme.

Nothing fancy, just cottage cheese, heavy whipping sweet cream, pumpkin pie spices, honey, prune slivers, and raisins.

In the morning, I will have my AFIB Ablation operation. Hopefully, 🙏 it will bring my rapid heartbeat pulse rate back down to normal. It's an outpatient operation. so, if all goes well, I should be home for the USA election counting.

Thank you Macro Monday for forcing me to bake today. It was totally worth it! HMM

Chaat is a savory snack, typically served at road-side tracks from stalls or food carts in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. .

My friend is feeling under the weather. This will restore him for sure.

Best made on Thursday to be served in Friday night but there's no need to wait.

Fresh out of the oven. L's first attempt at making bagels - everything variety here. She nailed it.

Beef Bones 4 lbs @ 39 cents a pound and a bucks worth of egg noodles equals a $2.56 meal that tastes likes a million.

Sal a gosto

Pork fillet (pork tenderloin) covered with roasted garlic, chopped fresh herbs and bacon. So delicious!

According to Martha Stewart's recipe

Apparently there is a dispute over where this stew originated...Brunswick, Virginia or Brunswick, Georgia. Doesn't really matter because it's delicious. Choice #2 for the Macro Monday theme "B-food"
