Flickr Friday theme Comfort. Comfort food Biscuits and Sausage gravy. My comfort on a cold rainy day. HFF, the old photographer. ,;-)
As a teenager in the 1960s I suffered from low self-esteem and found myself often in trouble at school as I overcompensated for it. After a tension-filled day at school I often relaxed when I got off the bus and walked the long lane of our farm home and realized anew that in this location I was accepted simply because I was part of our family who lived here. Many young people do not have this privilege and spend a lifetime looking for that same acceptance.

Funny backstory is that I got my "FlickrFriday" themes mixed up--I was so excited about capturing this photo--come to find out "comfort" was LAST week's theme!

I have been sick for the past week and started to feel better today, so I went out with my camera. This scene from Fox River proved to be a perfect healer for my ailing body and soul.

A toilet (or comfort station ;-)) in the middle of the bush with a nice view…I discovered it at Heja Lodge whilst actually looking for a landscape photo.

Pacific tree frog relaxing for a moment in my palm. Moving it out of harm's way benefits both of us: it gets comfortably warmed up; I get a photo opportunity.

This is one of the many "comfort stations" (or "outhouse's") that are located along the highways and backroads of Alaska. It is currently buried in snow - but I'm sure our highway department will have all of them dug out by the time the first tourist arrives. Meanwhile - rugged Alaskan's must dart off into the forest should mother nature call - and that is just a wee bit hard to do when the snow is up to your knee's, and the bears are waking up.
My second build for the Summer Joust. This build was much more rushed than my last one, but I am still proud of how it turned out. Hope you like it!
The best way to cheer up a rather wet spring day — coffee, cupcakes and the cheerful warm light from an oil lamp
Wishing all of you, and especially you, all the love, happiness, and peace during the Holidays and always.

This abstract of fall colors is a little out of my comfort zone but I liked the vibrancy of the nearby trees and sky reflected in the water.
I'm not really sure how American Coots get to and from Horsepen Bayou because once they are here, they seem to avoid heights greater than about three feet above the water and distances greater than about 50 yards.
Prompt: In the classic nostalgic style of Norman Rockwell a warm and cozy kitchen scene from the 1950s, a mother and son baking together, mother wearing a yellow blouse and floral apron, son wearing a light blue shirt and plaid apron, smiling and laughing, mother cutting bread, son holding a loaf of bread, wooden table with a white tablecloth, white westie puppy looking over the edge of the table various baking utensils and ingredients on the counter, vintage kitchen decor

"I feel like I'm going to slip..." Her voice was clear and yet shaky all at the same time. Things weren't easy right now. Learning about an entire other side of reality, being alone in a new town... they were getting to her and she needed help.
Hearing his voice was usually almost annoying. He'd call her five, sometimes six times a day, just to check in, to make sure she was on track. At times he felt overbearing, but it was that sort of care and worry that kept her on a straight line. But now she was calling him, quietly asking for guidance and help and he had it to offer. She felt good enough to get home, not worried about taking a detour to the bar, not worried about heading to the store and grabbing a six-pack. And she was thankful for that. But what she didn't expect was the knock on her door a few hours later, bringing her the closeness she'd missed more than she could have ever thought. Ever since they were teenagers, Anthony knew how to take care of her, and right now that was just holding her and being the anchor she always needed, but sometimes forgot she had.
