This is the one song everyone
would like to learn: the song
that is irresistible:
the song that forces men
to leap overboard in squadrons
even though they see the beached skulls . . .

Even though it's felt like summer for the past few weeks, today is the official first day of summer. Hotter temps, longer days, summer flowers, and more mosquitos.
Our Crocosmia has started to bloom, and the red hot colors seem to reflect the record breaking temperatures we've been experiencing lately.
This shot with the gardenia bush in the background still blooming, is a kind of "passing the baton" from spring to summer.
Alena does her best "come hither" gaze. She's wearing one of my pieces -- red velvet rondelles wire-wrapped between gunmetal and silver chainmail blossoms. Photo by Jessica Cargill, modeled by Alena Armstrong.

The City of Mississauga also unveiled its new public art mural in the Celebration Square amphitheatre. Come Together, by Que Rock, Alex Bacon and PERU143, celebrates generations of Indigenous leadership and contributions from diverse peoples and species who have made Mississauga the thriving hub it is today.

Sometimes it's good news that comes in threes. The Lurgan Branch was the place to be Tuesday afternoon with a trio of leading locomotives that brought out the railfans: UP 2001 leading NS 211, NS 911 leading NS 956 and NS 1071 leading NS 38Q. Lady Liberty left Hagerstown with the afternoon sun at her back, so I waited for her at treed-in curves before Stuart Road to blunt the wicked backlight.

This Osprey soars over Horsepen Bayou with the catch of the hour. They have been somewhat distant this year, but things will improve. The trip to the Pioneer Flight Museum went well and hope to start going to the photos in a couple of days. I will need to make sure the bayou is still there tomorrow. Will most definitely try to catch up with my comments.

PGT Challenge - Mood
I spotted the sunlight, streaming through the blinds, hitting the glass door knob to the back room of my house. It gets the morning light. To me the mood was inviting me to come in and soak up the sun on a cold winter's morning.
- comes earlier in the Orthodox calendar, and in most local cultures is called 'Flower Sunday'. The in-season flowers today are tulips (in my garden, at least) so I took the opportunity to 'test the macro of the iPhone' (always an excuse, isn't there? ;)
When they took that sign down there were hopes it would find a new home elsewhere. But no; it's memorialized on a mural along with other bits of Brooklyn history, but that's it. Gowanus, Brooklyn
What a pleasure it was to see the sun after these many rainy days.
I love going to the forest here in Germany. It makes me feel strong and balanced.

An archive shot from end of last season, Ulsfjord, Northern Norway March 11th 2011.
This is the type of shot some fellow landscape photographers of mine would characterize as a "brain damaged composition" ;) -
Still, no time to think composition here, more about just documenting the majestic phenomenon!
I can feel I am getting so ready now for upcoming aurora season!
