I had imagined there would be a great sunset so I headed to the top of The Roaches with Darcy. Spotting a climber on top I headed his way thinking I might silhouette him against the sky. But the sun quickly hid behind a very thick bank of cloud and all the light disappeared.
They were just finishing the climb, the one on top shouting down encouragement along the lines of, "Come on, hurry up! What's taking you so long?" The other looking up muttering, "Are you having a laugh? That's quite tough!" I would have dumped the shot as the lighting is horrible except the climbers asked for a copy of the picture which they explained was 'special' as they never get a photo of the two of them climbing together. And I think the photo captures the bond between the two (without any posing for the camera), presumably of friendship and trust. In that respect I was happy to oblige and send this photo to them!

Z127 is notched out and lugging up hill towards Newark, about to pass under Baldwin road on the south side of Grand Blanc.
A loaded QUBE grain train from West Wyalong AWB to Port Kembla, via Sydney climbs the 1.3 % grade up Morrison's Hill.
The Pikes Peak local continues its southward journey toward Colorado Springs as it approaches the Tomah Road grade crossing.
Hundreds of Pilgrims are going up on a two hours climb to Jabal al-Nour or "The Mountain of Light", or "Hill of Illumination" near Makkah which houses the famed Ghar-E-Hira or Hira cave. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) spent a great deal of time in the cave meditating and he had received his first revelation through the archangel Gabriel inside this cave from Almighty Allah.
Another rose growing in my garden, this one is the climbing version of Iceberg. It is much more slow in growth than Rambling Rector and is generally well behaved although it is susceptible to black spot. It is growing over an arch and along a fence.
It is worth the climb down to get the full impact of the volume and height of these waterfalls. I included a photographer friend in the shot to give a sense of the size of the escarpment here. The spring flow is powerful, hard to believe in summer it goes down to just a trickle.

Hope you like this one, taken from my garden wildlife pond. Its been a good year for little frogs, such as this one. I hope they continue to thrive. Last year was it much drier and the sparrows were feeding them to their young. Such is nature!

You can certainly hear the Cat in full cry as it climbs through Saddleworth towards Diggle with the 12:18 Stalybridge - Scarborough.
A westbound Union Pacific coal train (with three SP AC4400CWs mixed in for good measure) climbs through Clay, Colorado, on April 27, 2001. Below, two rear DPU locomotives push in the slack as they climb toward Big 10 Curve—and below that—a small herd of cattle are much more interested in the sprouting spring grass than the train.

A vertiginous climb up to a small cave. Just when I was feeling proud having made it--with dust on all appendages and a scraped knee--three Mennonite ladies in unscathed long dresses arrived! I would have loved to have photographed them but I don't think they would have relished the attention.
