Hong Kong is a city built of concrete, glass and steel. It is one of the most densely populated areas on our planet yet at the same time ranks very high on the global scale of quality of life.
This is the biggest break in the cloud cover I saw during my stay here. Oh well, the cloud cover made for good shooting conditions. Not only for me, but for the thousands (I lost track) of locals that asked to have a picture with me. Apparently it was funny to them to see a "white giant" in their tiny Asian country full of tiny Asian people. Haha. Good times!

Harbour City is a large shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. It is part of a series of office blocks and hotels. It comprises four parts: Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel, Ocean Terminal, Ocean Centre (with 1980s retro decor), and the Gateway. The complex is located along the west side of Canton Road, stretching from the Star Ferry terminal in the south to China Hong Kong City in the north.

This one is from Cockle Bay in Sydney Harbour. It was really still on the waters surface before the storm rolled in and I made this shot with my Nikon D800 on a tripod right on the waters edge. I call it "The Mirrored City", but it's a bit like a city in the clouds. I'm moving to Sydney this month so I'm excited for all the great photo locations in the area :-)
My new website is a great learning tool as it has all the camera settings and google maps location. In many instances I also share the software I used :-)

This is a 25-second exposure of the Kansas City Skyline. I took it on 1-19-2010 in the rain and fog. This shot had several things going against my favor.
1) The dynamic range from the darkness to the lightness. This makes it hard to get detail in all areas...but with being careful in post-processing...it was possible due to the new technique I am trying to push to its boundaries. HDR is not used in the technique.
2) Sharpness in the fog and rain. This was made possible by the use of tripod and a couple other factors.
3) Controlling the yellow cast from urban light pollution. This also was dealt with in post-processing.
So remember...even when it may seem like everything is not in your favor...the shot is still possible if care is taken.

Looking towards the 'old' CBD of Tianjin. The tall tower under construction in the centre was built in one of the earlier construction booms and stayed dormant for years before work started again fairly recently.
Atop Beacon Hill in Seattle...found this big sweeping curve that pulls you in to the city...gotta love the "Blue Hour"! Tho I did wish for a few clouds!
The entrance to the tunnels under Sydney start here and it even goes deep under Sydney Harbour over to North Sydney, the tunnel can be scary if you imagine all the water above your head! During Peak hour traffic this area can get very congested, like any city with millions of people in it can
