The citadel of Suceava, built in the 14th century by Voivode (Prince) Petru II of Moldavia, one of the two primcipalities which made up Romania in the 19th century. The castle, to use a British term, was strong enough to resist an attach by Sultan Mehmet II.
The castle has been restored, more or less tastefully, at least in comparison with castles I've seen in the Baltic states.

I was most curious about what came out from the computer's insides. They reminded me of little citadels on a flat landscape, a network of roads and clusters of buildings. When we search the web or process our photographs or post them to Flickr, all these little bits and pieces are furiously sharing information in a way I can't comprehend in order to produce what I expect to see on my screen - and without time to make a cup of tea between pressing return and getting the result!
Citadel of last king of Vietnam. Destroyed by French and American wars. Reconstruction is going on but after the US bombing there is not much left.

The Citadel of Ashdod is an Iron Age archaeological site on the Mediterranean coast of Israel in southern part of the modern city of Ashdod. The site is mentioned in documents from the time of Sargon II of Assyria when in 713 BCE the Assyrian king speaks that he took over control of the city of Ashdod and had fortified it.
