Matthew and Jonathan sponsored a shrimp boil at the beach house on Folly Beach during Parent's Weekend/Ring Weekend during Jonathan's senior year. We invited many Citadel friends and families and just had a blast.
The only remaining Mamluk Mosque in the citadel. Nicer than the other ones, not least because the tourist hordes don't visit.
Hue: a great place to visit in Vietnam for those wishing to step back in time and discover some history.
The Citadel was the seat of the Imperial Emperor.. and good for him, but when we were there it rained rained rained!

A storm was approaching as we got to the top, before it rained I got this cool pic of one of the statues.

48151 letting off steam at Carlisle Citadel, in december 2002. We were christmas shopping and I popped in to see what was about and this was on a special. I tracked it back down the A6 and in the dark and was rewarded just above Shap with a wonderful sight as the firebox door was opened and everything was lit by an amazing glow, cabin, smoke, crew, the lot. (I did not do the scan, it's from a cd that came with the negs)
I find it hard to believe that there was never a drawbridge here, but I could see no indication of any means of raising and lowering one. While it is possible that these heavily defended steep stone bridges are original, it would seem more likely that there was once one, or even two, drawbridges here.
