Initially the CB&Q bought FTs and F3s as ABBA sets. The Q being a flat-lander railroad soon learned the three units were sufficient and split the ABBAs in half adding a new F2A to the FTs and an F7A to the F3s to each half of the ABBA making ABA sets.
CB&Q 116D leading at Fairview Ave., Downers Grove, Illinois on July 4, 1965. This is an F3AB pair with most probably an F7A added to make an ABA set. The F3s were originally 116ABCD built in October 1947.
The GP 20s were the first low-noise GP or SD the Q purchased. And they were Chinese Red.

One of our ravens, we haven't seen the female for some time now and are hoping that she is sitting a nest. This guy wouldn't eat the piece of bruchetta I tossed onto the roof for him, apparently garlic is not to his liking.

Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad Collector at Naperville, Illinois on an unknown day in February 1965, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Only a month or so earlier this gentleman, Roger Taylor, was a Brakeman on the East End Way Freight, but complained about being out in the cold weather, so he transferred to the Passenger Department. He took a bit of grief from the way freight crew about his "monkey suit".
The East End of the CB&Q ran from Aurora Tower at the Station (both long gone) through western Chicago Suburbs to Union Avenue Tower (long gone) at the west end of the wye south of Chicago Union Station. The East-End Way Freight worked most of that territory. I lived in Westmont, one of those suburbs in the 1950s and 60s and took many pictures of that Way freight. Here are three for starters.
