I have been disappointed this year because I haven't seen near enough Caspians. Saw lots of them at MLK Shoreline earlier in the season, but after that, just a few. Last year, I spent countless hours over at Peet's Pond in Alameda watching the Caspians but this year, the pond was fenced off and I didn't see any there the two times I went.
Today, in my new obsession, I went back to Coyote Point for the Elegant Terns. While watching the group of Elegants at low tide waiting for them to take off, a single Caspian flew out and then by me. Awesome!! It was even banded!! I got it from both sides with bands showing!!

Caspian Horse are the oldest equine breed still in existence apart from the Asiatic Wild Horse.
No taller than 12.2hh, they are not a pony, but a perfectly proportioned small horse.
Perfect children’s mounts, driving horses, and small sport horse.
3 of perhaps 4 at Hueston Woods Wednesday afternoon. A 4th, an adult, was on the boat dock near the mudflat when I drove back to that area.

There were 100 Caspian Terns in Milwaukee's Lakeshore State Park yesterday (4/20). Here are 17 of them. Also, notice in the background how the waves are crashing over the breakwater. That wall is maybe 10 feet tall. It was a very blustery day.

I found an adult and juvenile Caspian tern at Hell's Gate SP a week ago, but didn't have my camera along. The adult was banded. Today I found the pair again and got a few photos. You can clearly see the number on one leg. What I didn't realize until I came home and uploaded the photos was that the adult also had a radio transmitter on it's back! I will be sending a report to the bird banding lab for more info. Lewiston, Idaho
