I have been disappointed this year because I haven't seen near enough Caspians. Saw lots of them at MLK Shoreline earlier in the season, but after that, just a few. Last year, I spent countless hours over at Peet's Pond in Alameda watching the Caspians but this year, the pond was fenced off and I didn't see any there the two times I went.
Today, in my new obsession, I went back to Coyote Point for the Elegant Terns. While watching the group of Elegants at low tide waiting for them to take off, a single Caspian flew out and then by me. Awesome!! It was even banded!! I got it from both sides with bands showing!!
