Augustine Wildlife Area, DE - I was busy shooting Caspian Terns as they circled, hovered and plunge dove for the next meal. I found it odd that a Laughing Gull was floating directly underneath all of the activity. But what heppened next was quite remarkable. As this Tern exited the water with its catch, the Gull tried to steal it. A struggle ensued and you can see the fish in the middle of the 2 birds. Unfortunately the lighting conditions were not optimal but this shot made me feel a little like Marty Stouffer!

I don't understand how a bird with only 50,000 breeding pairs worldwide can qualify as of "least concern." Wouldn't we worry if there were only 100,000 humans left on the planet? As it is, we have so many humans we of extreme concern, because we are rapidly using up not only our resources, but those of every other creatures on the planet.

A visit to Norfolk to see the Syke's Warbler proved unsuccessful, so we spent some time around Cromer enjoying at least 4 different Caspian Gulls.....

Taken during a Wild Birds in Flight photography workshop. When you view it large, you can see the fish it's got stuffed in its mouth.

A very rare Tern in our Islands. Last report of one was in 1995.

This is a mother and her young. While photographing both a 3rd Caspian arrived in a mix flock, making a total of 3 in our Island a very rare sighting.
