the BART underground walkways are full of interesting characters, this gent being one of my favorites. you may not be able to tell here but he does the best Johnny Cash impersonation that i've ever heard. the other morning, as i made my way up the stairs from the train platform, i heard his booming voice echoing through the station and smiled to myself, remembering that i had slipped the OneStep into my bag before i left the house. as i approached i held up the camera, motioning if it was OK to take a picture. he stopped singing and with a grin said, sure! -- how about like this?!
i almost didn't get the picture as i was laughing so hard, i hadn't expected him to flip me off. but it was all part of his persona.
did you get it?, he then asked in an uncharacteristicly quiet voice, after i had taken his picture. then a little quieter still, could i have it? -- i mean, you can take another if you want.
so i did, and he again struck the same fierce pose.
i so love 'Roid Week

Khalid shows us a stray stand of the major cash crop of the Rif, cannabis. As we heard from a local who was kind enough to come out and have a word with us (this was just a random stop, not prearranged), the population up in the mountains here does not have a lot of alternative sources of income. Cultivation for medicinal or industrial use is now legal, and there is legal export to the EU, but I suspect most of these farms exist in a gray-market limbo.
Today is the 10th anniversary of Johnny Cash death.
I'm a fan of him since so many years. Sadly I never had the chance to see him live in concert.
I became a fan in a curious way. I was 16 years old and was fan of the sci-fi-series "space 2063". In one episode there was an old cool warhorse who always drunk whiskey and heard to Johnny Cash. This was so impressive to me that I wanted to find out the name of the singer because they didn't mentioned it during the episode. It took me a while because it was the time before the internet, maybe some of you will remember this time ;P
Cheers Johnny!

Our Daily Challenge ... note. Looks good in lightbox!
I don't usually have many notes in my purse but I advertised and sold some surplus furniture at the weekend so for the moment I have quite a few!
This is my life, right here. It's all cash and bullets. All dark city streets and temptresses with velvet bosoms. You bring me the cases, and I solve them. But not without the help of my orangutan buddy, Mister Merriweather. We'll solve your cases. We'll crack the nut.
Cash and bullets, baby, cash and bullets.
Oh, and delusions of being a detective. A detective with a monkey.

Outside a shop in Tintagel, Cornwall. Of course, it simply meant that the hole-in-the-wall ATM or cash machine didn't charge a fee for you to take your money out.
Portrait Photographer Johnny Ferris, 66, sits beside one of his most famous portraits in his basement photography studio in Syracuse, N.Y. April 20, 2016. Ferris first began his career in 1973 as a Musician Photographer at the age of 17 when he accidentally bumped into the famous singer/song writer Johnny Cash in downtown Boston, Mass. Cash noticed Ferris’s Nikon F and began questioning him about the camera. After a brief conversation, Cash allowed Ferris to capture one portrait of him before he climbed into a limousine. From that day forward, Ferris has ventured every major music capital east of the Mississippi River collecting hundreds of musician's portraits.
