I won this in a game of rock paper scissors.

I was having lunch at Darla's on Irving when I noticed this area of tables that had been repurposed for storing a bunch of stuff for the restaurant. Upon closer look, I saw a pile of cash under the box of 4oz. MINI KITTY & PUPPY, and another pile of cash wrapped in a piece of paper just behind it.

I interrupt my ongoing tour of our Hawaiian vacation for this local shot taken at the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge. I ran it through the new HDR plug in to Snapseed and then shifted the white balance into the warmer tones to get rid of those Winter blues and grays. I think it's one of the best results I've had from the iPhone so far.

We're off in Denver Colorado right now visiting my daughter Sarah for Christmas. So I'll upload some iPhone shots until I return to my normal desktop for more shots from Hawaii.

The pano feature is one of the best things about the iPhone camera.

Felista tells the story of how M-Pesa allowed her to send vital funds to her mother to pay for healthcare while she was desperately ill. She also uses the service to send money to her father to pay for her brother’s school fees.

Vodafone’s M-Pesa service (literally ‘mobile money’), the world’s most successful money transfer service, is present in 10 countries and serves more than 29.5 million active users. Known as ‘Vodafone Cash’ in Ghana and Egypt, M-Pesa’s mobile payment system was originally pioneered by Vodafone in collaboration with Safaricom, Vodafone’s affiliate in Kenya.

M-Pesa (‘pesa’ is Swahili for the word ‘money’) enables people with an M-Pesa account to transfer money via SMS simply, securely and instantly. They can then “cash out” through the many M-Pesa agents located all around the country, send money to other users, pay for bills and school fees, pay for goods face to face in shops. In some countries there are products such as savings, loans and insurance in partnership with financial institutions.

M-Pesa is also helping businesses to be more efficient. Businesses can pay for business transactions directly using M-Pesa, for example a wholesaler can distribute goods via a lorry and receive payments via M-Pesa from the retailers. Additionally, business can, receive payments from customers via the paybill facility and can also pay employees directly into their M-Pesa accounts.

Well, I ask the question only because I couldn't, honestly, say when I last had cash, either coins or paper money, in my pocket or wallet!!

Nowadays, everywhere I shop, have a coffee or a meal accept cashless payments via my bank or credit card or my digital wallet.

$5,000 ringgit. Probably the only time I'll ever have that much cash in my hand.

For whatever reason people in Malaysia still seem to deal with large sums in cash. I guess its to do with the fact that much day-to-day business is still done using cash (no hawker accepts credit card), and also the old school mentality that the safest place for your money is under your bed. ;)

About Married on FX

Married is a half hour comedy about being miserably in love. Russ (Nat Faxon) and Lina Bowman (Judy Greer) can barely remember what life was like before kids, debt, and suburbia rained on their romance -- but every once in a while, in between the arguments about their declining sex life and who's driving carpool, they are reminded what drew them together in the first place -- they're best friends.

About You're the Worst on FX

An original comedy from writer and executive producer Stephen Falk, You're The Worst puts a dark twist on the romantic comedy genre. Narcissistic, brash, and self-destructive "Jimmy Shive-Overly," played by Chris Geere (The Spa), thinks all relationships are doomed. Cynical, people-pleasing, and stubborn "Gretchen Cutler," played by Aya Cash (The Wolf of Wall Street), knows that relationships aren't for her. So when they meet at a wedding, it's only natural that the two of them go home together and, despite their better judgment, begin to find themselves falling for each other.
