As one travels around southwest Ontario in late summer, you cannot miss the sight of acres and acres of fields of corn. Known as a cash crop, this corn is grown for many purposes from an additive to gasoline (methanol) to livestock feed to alcohol distillation.

This one belonged to Mrs. Clorinda, original owner of Best Western Hotel Cappello d'Oro in Bergamo, Italy. The cash register was regularly used during the 60s.

A cold, wet spring and early summer delayed the planting of many of the crops in southwestern Ontario. But this field of soybeans near the village of Colchester is making up for lost time. Much of what is grown in this area is corn and soybeans referred to as cash crops. These crops are harvested and sold in bulk for profit.

Trust you is just one defense

Off a list of others, you don't make sense

Beg me time and time again

to take you back now, but you can't win

Take back now, my life you're stealing

Yesterday was hell

But Today I'm fine without you

The core of the invention was the cash drawer, which only opened at the specified time with the ringing noise that had become typical for the cash register. Even today, every checkout opening is registered digitally.

Compositionally Challenged Week39 - Shapes

Shot from 3rd floor parking garage, facing west. From Wiki: Wells Fargo Center is a skyscraper located in Denver, Colorado, United States. The building is also known by its former name One Norwest Center. It is known colloquially as the Cash Register Building for the way its uppermost floors curve together resembling the shape of an antique cash register. At 52 stories tall, it is 698 feet (213 m) high and the third tallest building in Denver.[1] It is shorter than the Republic Plaza building at 714 feet (218 m), and 1801 California Street at 709 feet (216 m).

The building was designed by architect Philip Johnson, under a master plan by I. M. Pei, and was completed in 1983. As it was originally designed to be for a downtown area in Texas, a heated roof is necessary to prevent snow from accumulating and sliding dangerously off the curved crown.[citation needed] Located at 1700 Lincoln Street, a skybridge over Lincoln Street connects the Wells Fargo Center to the older Mile High Center at 1700 Broadway;[2] which houses a food court, Starbucks, a small museum featuring artifacts, and memorabilia from Wells Fargo history, and the Downtown Denver branch of Wells Fargo Bank. Both buildings have large atria constructed in the same cash register style.

The building has its own unique zip code, 80274

I have over well 200 pictures I have taken in various towns & villages processed and yet to post, so to free up some desk space I'm loading 4 a day onto Flickr. More than happy if anyone just comments on one :0)

Thanks everyone.......
