This absolutely marvelous and unshaky picture is a little bit unfortunate, but I didn't realized I screwed this spot back then. I still want to keep a dirty, black Camry spot, however, since they're not available here, especially from a rarer region in Ukraine.

Since I won't be daily driving the GT350, I needed an economical and reliable daily driver. Turns out buying a Camry that just came off of a lease is a very affordable solution.
The fifth generation of the Toyota Camry was sold between 2001 and 2006. The Camry wasn't a very succesful model in Europe. So this was the last generation of the Camry sold over here until Toyota reintroduced the Camry in Europe in 2019.
Very pleased to see this! Not one I can recall seeing around before, but there it was at my local filling station. Still has its 17" original alloys - not a given as they're vulnerable to damage with the low profile tyres. Looks as if it might have its lower front spoiler too, another Sport-specific item that's sometimes missing.
Must be three years or so since I sold my similar Camry. It was a good car.

The fourth generation of the Toyota Camry in Europe was sold between 1996 and 2001. This one seems to be imported from North America. Despite being one of the best selling cars in the USA later generations of the Camry weren't very succesful in Europe. In 2006 Toyota stopped sales of the Camry over here.

A photo I was pleased to get, given my fondness for this model. This one was just a month or two old when photographed in Newnham, Glos on 10/9/92. As an early saloon it has the 14" wheels, whereas the estates sold here always had 15" wheels to cover their bigger brakes.
This one appears to have been well-used. It's not on the DVLA database any more, suggesting a Certificate of Destruction has been issued, but the MoT check site says it'd done 212k miles when last tested in 2009.
By Wednesday morning the track up to our house had a reasonably deep covering of snow. I had to go to a meeting, fortunately only a few miles away, and rather than risk any damage to the Avensis (which is provisionally sold, awaiting payment) I thought the Camry would be well-suited to the conditions.
I let a bit of air out of the front tyres and it did just fine. Lack of traction control etc meant I could control it a little more easily and hear/feel what was going on.
It also warmed-up rather more quickly than the Avensis, which I did attempt to use on Thursday but was beaten by snowdrifts on the country roads.

The first generation (V10) Camry is undoubtedly my favourite model! (Even if I only found they existed last year...)
This is the first one I've come across outside of show. It's an original Irish car registered on an old Dublin reg and is looking sharp for 38 years old!

I suspect it will be some time before that tailgate gets repainted. If I do get it done then the RH rear door will get resprayed at the same time - that door was a replacement after someone drove into it and the original repaint didn't really work.
One other small job that I did today is evident here - the proper number plate has been swapped onto the replacement tailgate.
Thanks to the UK based Premier Portfolio website not only have I been able to source new Realtoy models again but also some Welly too. This wonderfully normal looking Dubai themed Toyota Taxi is part of a Desert Car four vehicle set which im assuming is aimed at the Emirates market. Crisply cast with front and rear detailing though if im being picky the paint application is a bit too thick! Mint and boxed.
