â–¶ The last time a Washington, D.C. Major League baseball team won the World Series was, in fact, the only time: 1924, when the Washington Senators, of the American League, defeated the New York Giants.
In 1925 and 1933, the Senators would win the American League pennant, but lose in the World Series. Those would be the last two occasions of a postseason championship for a Washington D.C. baseball team (even though the Montreal Expos, who became the current Washington Nationals in 2005, did win the National League East, in 1981, before losing the NLCS to the Los Angeles Dodgers).
Will there be a new pennant in 2014?
**************
â–¶ UPDATE: No, there wouldn't be a pennant that year, but it did happen in 2019!
â–¶ UPDATE update:
On 23 July 2020, a World Championship banner was raised to honor the Nats' World Series Championship of 2019 over the Houston Astros. Unfortunately, Nationals Park was empty of fans, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Jaguar C-type (officially called XK120-C) is a racing sports car. The "C" stands for "Competition". It combined the running gear of the contemporary, road-proven XK 120, with a lightweight tubular frame. A total of 53 C-types were built, 43 of which were sold to private owners, mainly in the US. The C-type was successful in racing, most notably at the Le Mans 24 h race, which it won in 1952 and 1953.

The former C&WI station at Oakdale, seen here in March 1979. This was once a suburban stop for C&WI trains and the agent/operator controlled the Dolton Branch crossing of the Rock Island's South Chicago Branch. Later, control of the interlocking was transferred to 81st Street Tower. At this date, the building was used as a residence by an elderly gentleman who was a retired C&WI employee.

C&NW Train 2, the eastbound Kate Shelley 400 paused at DeKalb, Illinois on Dec. 28, 1964. It was not 7:00 a.m. yet. She left Clinton, Iowa well over an hour before where she slept the night and had about an hour to go to arrive in Chicago. She had a diner lounge car and coaches. Her run was 138 miles. E-unit 5015A and its steam generator seemed to be working fine on this cold college-break morning. She was an E7A built in September 1947 and retired in August 1971.
