This was shot in the White Oak Sink, a special place in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Sink is not on the maps; it was taken off many years ago since there are caves there and the Park Service got tired of rescuing people from them. Locals know about it since it is a wonderful place to find wildflowers, so while the trail to get there is not maintained, it is used enough to be quite obvious. This time of year, there is a carpet of wild phlox and plenty of trillium, among others. This small falls appears at one end of the sink, and acts as a natural air conditioner, providing cool air even when it is quite warm. It adds a little to the considerable magic of the place.

One of my favorites not because the size since it is an small flower, but because the smell.
