yesterday i received a small bag of vintage buttons from my Mum's cousin.

they were pretty dirty, so after i sorted them (this is the good batch) i left them soaking in soapy water overnight. most of them have cleaned up really nicely

One of my favorite shots from a few years ago.

I am trying a new couching technique. It makes the thickness to make covered buttons too thick and hard to make. I love the way they look though.

This is Miss Buttons. She might have lopsided ears and wonky arms, but as she says, you don't have to be perfect to be pretty.

Common names: Buttons, Silky Cotula; Knoppies (Afrikaans).

Botanical name: Cotula sericea.

Family: Asteraceae.

I love buttons and these are some of my favorites. I have jars full of them.

We made a ton of colorful buttons with sayings for the guests to choose and wear. It made a great ice breaker and so much fun to see what everyone chose.

i got my toronto subway button set in the mail today. each button matches the tile pattern at each subway stop. you can get them at spacing.ca/, where you can also read a number of great articles on toronto's urban space.

here they are laid out in transit map fashion.

i plan on making a number of squared circles from my favourite stations in the set.
