Two nice sets of buttons. The set on the left (which is missing a button; there are five) seem to be made from some sort of animal horn. The set on the right are just delicous tortoise-shell. I'm not actually sure what they're made of --any ideas?

Buttons on collages don't look finished to me unless they have thread on them. So I usually thread mine before I stick them down.

I brought some of Cleo's buttons as a giveaway, and they were a huge hit. There were hordes of teens sorting through them. The rubber balls were popular, too.

A pile of buttons that I found.

As part of an argument with Arne, the Xbox Community rep, I got out my original 360 box and took some shots of how a proper box is constructed.

Buttons decided to help lend legitimacy to my comparison by nudging the 360 box at just the right time.

Buttons, especially metal military buttons, are often found when archeologists are excavating the site of a native village. Does this mean that the two groups lived in harmony together? Not necessarily.

While it was not unheard of for natives and Europeans to coexist, more commonly, the two relied on each other for trade commodities. Many inexpensive items such as nails or sewing needles commonly used by Europeans were highly prized and sought after by natives.

Although some tribes did work in copper or silver, buttons on European clothing and American uniforms were elaborate and detailed in their relief carvings. Once acquired by natives, the buttons also served as trade items between tribes since they were greatly valued as regalia adornments

When Gwen died, my potter friend Melissa reached out with these beautiful handmade buttons with a robins egg finish. Blogged.

I've just started back in making buttons. These are demos just to see how this technique would work. I have some bugs to work out. Once I'm home again (we're on vacation) I'll be putting a lot of effort into buttons.

...mostly mother-of-pearl (there are 3 plastic ones I liked, too), mostly vintage. To be made into something for someone as part of my little pay-it-forward-facebook project.
