Thank you, in advance, to those of you who take a moment to leave a comment and/or fave my photo. I appreciate it tremendously.

The original plans for the park were on 8 acres next to the Burbank studios where his employees and families could go to relax. Although, World War II put those plans on hold. During the war, Walt had time to come up with new ideas, and creations for his magical park. It was soon clear that 8 acres wouldn't be enough.

The search for the best spot finally ended in the rural Anaheim, California with a purchase of a 160-acre orange grove.

Construction for Disneyland began on July 21, 1954, a meager 12 months before the park was scheduled to open. From that day forward Walt Disney's life would never be the same.

Opening day, was a day to remember. Six thousand invitations to the Grand Opening had been mailed. By mid-afternoon over 28,000 ticket holders were storming the Magic Kingdom. Most of the tickets were counterfeit.

Walt Disney was 53 when he dedicated Disneyland Park.

Our local marijuana dispensary. Currently only open to people with medical marijuana cards, but come Oct 1 - per the sign in the window - it will be open to everybody. (Well, I'm sure there are age restrictions.)

For reasons unknown, this establishment closed on Sep 1. (They remain in business at another location, but it isn't clear why they closed this location.)

At Quickies Food Stores in Monaca, Pennsylvania. by Tim Kiser

"Monaca" is not pronounced like "Monica." Rather, the stress goes on the middle syllable, and it rhymes with "alpaca."

A "quickie" is a brief sex act.

We are expected to understand that there is only one Quickies Food Store here at this site, not multiple Quickes Food Stores, despite what the sign says.

Weirdly, the actual name of the business on its building is "Mamula's Mini Mart," and a Google or DDG search for "Quickies Food Stores" turns up zero exact matches as of July 2022.

My favorite part of the sign is the black plastic rectangle of the "FOOD STORES" portion.

Of the numerous businesses in the U.S. that sell refrigerated multipacks of hot dogs, most do not routinely advertise the price on roadside signs, nowadays.
