One of the 250 or so particiants in the Stop the War! March for Change, November 5th, Fayetteville, Arkansas. Organized by the Omni Center for Peace, Justice and Equality plus the Green Party Arkansas, UA Campus Greens, NOW and NORML.
Second planting of bush beans are growing. Birds got the first sprouts. I covered this batch with chicken wire.
These rose pods were all over this rose bush. At first they looked like little apples or cherries, but I don't think I would want to munch on them.

Bush Stone Curlew Burhinus grallarius 54-59cm
The Bush Stone Curlew lies motionless and perfectly camouflaged to avoid being detected by predators. They are truly difficult to find without using a really good set of powerful binoculars and methodically scouring the ground in all directions. Unfortunately their behaviour makes them vulnerable to introduced predators such as cats and foxes. They are also known for their blood-curdling cries at night when they are communicating with each other while feeding.
