This is a composite image. I photographed the bush against a light-grey sky on an overcast day------it was practically a black-and-white shot to begin with------and then saved it in the computer as a monochrome file. Finally, I superimposed it over a generic picture of the sky.
Smiths Bush is on the North Shore, Auckland, New Zealand. There is a loop track taking about 30 - 40 minutes to walk at a leisurely pace taking you back in time with the old puriri trees. I am surprised how many people I talk to haven't been there - it's very close to the motorway (in fact cuts through it) and also close to Takapuna, Milford, Northcote and Glenfield shops.
A picture that shows the colour of the sun as it started to descend through the cloudy haze on December 9th, 2006 - a day that Melbourne was covered in smoke from the fires burning in Vicoria's countryside.
Located in front of my apartment building, this bush is yellow every year around late April or early May. My girl friend said this might be a Japonica bush, but wasn't 100% sure, but may be.

Samuel Prescott Bush was a noted industrialist (he was president of Buckeye Castings) in the early 1900s. Probably more famous for being the Grandfather of President George H.W.Bush, and Great-Grandfather of President George W. Bush. A surprisingly unassuming monument.
