Thank you all for your visit comments and faves much appreciated!

Have a great day!

I have certainly heard these around the Lake before, but I have never seen one, issuing its 'advertisement' call, sitting out in the early morning sun. The sounds started just after 8, and I walked down through shrubs to the edge of the water and found this large male. They are in the middle of their breeding season, and in my opinion more numerous than in past years (which might have something to do with reduced heron and Egret numbers, possibly because the water is much deeper than in past years). It takes a tadpole three years to become a Bullfrog, and another three years to become sexually mature. I really like this image, in part because of the ripples in the water from the Bullfrog's call.

If you're going to come along with me to see Mt. Diablo, then your have to see some very special bullfrogs (below) and some very large North American Bullfrogs, Rana catesbeiana, which used to be invasive?

To explain. At Bullfrog Pond, there were basically these one to two pound ! Bullfrogs as well as the Blue and Green below. When the water level dropped to its 2018 level, Great Blue Herons came in and decimated the Great Bullfrog, and they decimated them in less than a week.

But the Blue and Greens were still evidenced at one other pond. However the drought took it's toll on the tiny California Red-legged Toad.

I'll get back to you on the amphibian populations after we've had a decent rain, something that we've not had in 23 years.

Bullfrog Pond, with all its croaking and other mating squeals and noises, was just a magnet for me. California Ground Squirrels nested among the roots of the trees, and were prey to rattlesnakes and herons, but their populations remained.

At our waterfront today.

American Bullfrog (lithobates catesbeianus). Wildwood Lake in the canal. Wildwood Park, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

This Bullfrog was so black that from far away I thought it was a turtle. Quite out of the ordinary colour. It was the first time I've seen one like this.

This bullfrog had a mosquito squarely ensconced on its eardrum (tympanum). The photographer was also hosting a few mosquitoes at the same time. Photographed in the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge in western Wisconsin.

• Lithobates catesbeianus (#2)

Common in ponds, marshes, and slow-moving rivers. Bullfrogs appear light green during the warmer months for added camouflage.

Bullfrog watching me as I sit beside his pond. I'm watching two ospreys perched in the trees nearby, waiting for them to resume hunting over the pond. The sun is just above the horizon, as seen in the frog's eye.

I would estimate this super-sized frog to weight around 1.5 lbs. I saw him leap shortly after the shot, and the jump's length was between 8 and 10 feet.

Spotted in the night in Havelock in Andaman Islands, India

This guy was basking in the last amber rays of the day and I had to capture the scene. I must have taken 20-30 exposures not only to bracket but because I wanted to catch the light pinnacle.

----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST ALONE!

12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)

16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)

1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)

7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus died that death for YOU and I. The good news is there no more punishment for sin left, we were and are all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

almost eye level with this bullfrog in his pond...found a great spot and spent about an hour watching and listening to them. Alarmingly they are filling up a precious pond, killing ducklings and local frogs and anything else that comes across their path. Still, my camera will migrate to what interests my eye.
