The winged foot of Mercury became the symbol for the Goodyear Rubber Company. The company's symbol (logo) has the wingfoot set in the middle of the word "Goodyear." A sign with the symbol was placed atop the Goodyear World Headquarters. At one time- at least up to 2011- the sign contained the phase "On the Wings on Goodyear" in smaller size letters above the wingfoot.
The marquee for the Maco Theater on Chestnut Street in downtown Virginia, Minnesota stands tall. The building houses a church as of late 2017.

Longtime eatery in downtown Morris, Illinois which has a bit of an identity crisis! A paper sign in the building's vestibule yielded some interesting facts, the most interesting one claiming that the building itself (constructed in 1867) has ALWAYS housed a restaurant on the first floor!
There have been seven owners over the years. While the vestibule sign does not mention most of the names the place has had over the years, at one time it was known as the "Saratoga Cafe" and after that was called "Weitz Brothers Cafe". For some reason the new owner didn't (couldn't?) keep the name the same so it was modified ever so slightly after the Weitz family sold it in 1971. A new-ish mural inside the diner depicts an older view of Morris' Liberty Street and shows this very sign which clearly reads "Weitz Cafe"!
Click the photo--you can see that the neon sign's last letter is actually an "S"...even though the white painted background is rather ambiguous. I have no idea if it lights up or not. Would be nice if the missing bulbs were replaced. I found a photo on Facebook which shows a photo of the sign with all bulbs intact but I have no idea how old it may be.

Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys
You got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we’ll sing a victory tune
We’ll all meet back at the local saloon
We’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces
Singing whiskey for my men, beer for my horses...

Spent my birthday gallivanting in the Sacramento River Delta with my lady, imbibing in some of the local watering holes...
Still-open bar & grill on Main Street in Marseilles. I went inside, but only to get a glass bottle of Coke (which I purchased elsewhere in town) opened. Directly across the street to the south is a vintage hotel which has since closed.
Former Dutch Pride Dairy located at 2302 A St. in Antioch, CA. Even though the Dutch Pride chain which at its peak in the 1970's had more than twenty locations is long gone this sign remains. The business with this sign now operated under the name "Wen's Drive Thru Dairy" and even though the condition of the old sign is terrible, at least its still standing.
More on Dutch Pride Dairies...
Dutch Pride Dairies once bosted more than a dozen locations in the East Bay Area. The chain is now defunct although two locations in Antioch still use the Dutch Pride name for their business. One of the Antioch locations offered gasoline but Im not aware of any other DPD locations doing the same. The dairy was located in Escalon,CA (about 20 miles North of Modesto) although I have not found the exact whereabouts of where the dairy itself was located. I have not found any indication that DPD ever operated in the Central Valley which I find interesting as they had their major dairy located there. Many of the Dutch Pride locations had two drive thru windows, one on each side of their typical A-Frame buildings. The former DPD on A St. in Antioch (above) is the most intact in regards to the design of the buildings.
One of the few country western honky tonks left in LA........ you can still ride up and hitch your horse to the hitching post in the back, walk on in and hear live music seven nights a week.
The Cowboy Palace Saloon over the years has also been the film location for several movies and music video's
So if you have a yearnin for some twangy guitar, cowboy boots and a country honky tonk check it out
Old motor court motel built in 1947........... a bit on the sketchy side of things now day's
But hey....... the signage is in good working order ;-)
2311 E Bessemer Ave.
Site of the first Biff Burger in Greensboro. Open for many years as the China Sky Chinese Restaurant but now closed and for sale. According to the very faded flyer in the window, it can be yours for $149,000.
The original Barefoot Traders arrow sign. This used to have a great neon Hillbilly. The Hillbilly has been gone for a long time. At least the arrow is still there. Lake Ozark, Missouri.
The Bottle Barn stands on 1st Avenue North, just across the Northern Pacific tracks from Center Avenue (Highways 10 & 75) in Moorhead, Minnesota.
The former neon sign appeared to have its guts ripped out at some point in time. Didn't get a photo of the decrepit building, which has since been demolished. No idea if the sign remains.
Sam's Hofbrau is an old school topless joint on the outskirts of downtown LA on Olympic Blvd............ doing business for thirty years now this divey bootie joint is like something out of a Quenton Tarantino-Richard Rodriguez film.......kinda gritty & cool ;-)
This great sign more than made up for the relatively bland building this sign was associated with. A former neon sign--the giveaway (besides the sign's googie-esque angles & porcelain finish) is the fact that some of the bulb sockets are partially covered up with the new-ish decal...and note that the name is spelled WRONG! I have no idea if the name was changed over the years, but this place appears to still be open. This side of the sign included a sign for two phone numbers (boarded up on other side) and a more intact marquee, (but lacked the earlier shot's natural late afternoon sunlight).
Since 1950 the Crestview Service Center on West Pico Blvd. in Los Angeles has been doing stand up automotive work................ they also have a pretty cool Goodyear sign out front announcing their location: www.crestviewservice.com/?PageData=14433
