La zona más moderna del casco histórico es Nove Mesto, la ciudad nueva de Praga. Pero no hay que dejarse engañar, pues la construcción de este barrio nos traslada hasta la Edad Media, al siglo XIV, cuando el emperador Carlos IV puso en marcha el que sería uno de los proyectos urbanísticos más importantes en la Europa del momento.
Se puede encuadrar dentro de la tendencia del constructivismo. El interior del templo se estructura en planta de cruz griega situándose el presbiterio con el altar en el centro del crucero conde la cúpula que lo cubre alcanza los veinte metros.
