Novotorzhsky Borisoglebsky Monastery is one of the oldest Russian Orthodox monasteries. It was founded in 1038.
Since 1804 and still it is the tallest building in the city. The complex engineering structure of the church in the classical style unites four tiers: the first is the Holy Gate (this is the main entrance to the monastery), the second houses the main premises of the church with an altar area, the third has a bell tower, and the fourth has an observation deck made in the form of an elegant rotunda.
