The iconic Col du Tourmalet. At 19km long climb from Luz St-Sauveur to the top at 2,115m (7,054ft). It was on my bucket list of climbs to ride. The Tourmalet has been featured 80 time in the Tour de France more than any of other climbs. A truly magical day!
Thank goodness for the rain! I put marbles on the bottom of the bucket so you could see the raindrops and distortion better.
Ein Roadtrip auf dem Hwy 101 entlang der KĆ¼ste Oregons stand schon so lange auf meiner Bucketlist. SĆ¼dlich von Cannon Beach ist die KĆ¼ste besonders rauh und zerklĆ¼ftet mit vielen kleinen Buchten und StrƤnden - aber leider hoffnungslos Ć¼berlaufen im Sommer. Zwar traut sich kaum einer ins eiskalte Wasser des Pazifiks, aber trotzdem tummeln sich Menschenmassen auf den StrƤnden - wir werden wohl irgendwann noch mal wiederkommen wenn es leerer ist.
A road trip along the Oregon coast had been on my bucket list for a long time. South of Cannon Beach, the coast is particularly rugged with many small bays and beachesābut unfortunately, it's hopelessly overcrowded in summer. While hardly anyone dares to swim in the icy Pacific Ocean, crowds still flock to the beaches. We'll probably come back sometime when it's less crowded.
A pod of walruses in Magdalenafjord turn towards the water to check out an unexpected noise, but one only has eyes for the pod of wildlife photographers nearby. I am the walrus. JWL.
Finally able to cross another one of my long bucketlist. The beautiful view of Vernazza Cinque Terre, so well worth the wait.
The moment the sun peaked over the mountains, the clouds quickly diffused the sun light. The light sure didn't last long...

On my last trip to Iceland, this was one of the places that I most wanted to know and for which I had great expectations.
Knowing it would be just a short visit at dawn in one of the longest days of our trip, we left Akureyri at 6.00 AM accompanied by heavy rain and some snow, I confess that on the way I feared that this would not be "the day" ...
Fortunately, shortly after our arrival we had a good weather window that allowed everyone to shoot and contemplate this beauty of nature that for me, is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world !
On my Bucket List ... one less ! ^_*

OK this photo was one of the main reasons I went to Northern Ireland as I've wanted to see this for ages. Loved it took loads but won't bore you with any more.. Over the next few days I'm going to try to do a quickish summary of my time from then till now!
Een stukje van de TransfÄgÄrÄČan, die leidt naar het gedeelte van de spectaculaire bergpas wat 'Ć©Ć©n van de mooiste wegen ter wereld' wordt genoemd. Helaas was de weg verderop dicht door een dik pak sneeuw, dus een keer in de zomer terug staat nog op de bucketlist.

A part of the TransfÄgÄrÄČan route, which leads to the part of the spectacular mountain pass which is called 'one of the most beautiful roads in the world'. Unfortunately, the road ahead was closed due to a thick layer of snow, so once going back in the summer is still on the bucket list.

This was our first stop on the cruise in Juneau and the ice cave tour at the Mendenhall Glacier was something that should be on everyones list of things to do in life! I can not really express the feeling you get when you climb down into the ice cave and see just a massive area of just ice surrounding you. This is the top place that I have ever had a chance to take photos! Several more shots to post from within the cave, so enjoy and add make sure to add this adventure to your travel must dos!

I've waited a lot of years to see a shelf cloud over checkerboard hill, along the South Saskatchewan River north of Leader. It is a popular look out spot for locals, and also tourists. It finally happened tonight.

Wednesday Macro or Close-Up
One of the odd things on my bucket list is to visit every US National Park. Somehow I was able to convince my wife to visit Haleakala National Park on our honeymoon. After failing to secure sunrise passes, we have decided to just drive up there and have a look see. From the base of the volcano all the way to the top we were driving in clouds and barely could see 10 feet in front of us. While atop of the volcano, clouds broke just slightly for me to take the picture of the Haleakala observatory.
š³š± Iets wat al een tijdje op de bucketlist stond, waren de DĆ¼wag-trams van Freiburg. Na lang uitstellen begon het toch te kriebelen om deze oudjes eens te vereeuwigen, vooral na een niet-hobbygerelateerd bezoekje aan Freiburg. In deze stad rijden er nog drie types DĆ¼wag-trams rond: de GT8K uit 1981/82, waarvan er nog twee actief zijn (helaas niet op de dag dat ik er was), de GT8N uit 1990, waarvan er nog zo'n tien in dienst zijn, en de GT8-MN-Z uit 1993/94, waarvan er 26 rondrijden en die een radicaal ander ontwerp hebben.
Hier zien we de GT8N 230 in originele kleurstelling stoppen bij de halte HasemannstraĆe. Niet lang daarna zal de achtasser de halte Littenweiler bereiken, waarna deze terugkeert.
š¬š§ Something that had been on the bucket list for a while was the DĆ¼wag trams of Freiburg. After much postponing, I finally felt the urge to capture these oldies, especially after a non-hobby-related visit to Freiburg. In this city three types of DĆ¼wag trams are still in operation: the GT8K from 1981/82, of which only two are still active (unfortunately, not on the day I was there), the GT8N from 1990, of which about ten are still in service, and the GT8-MN-Z from 1993/94, of which 26 are running and have a radically different design.
Here we see the GT8N 230 in its original livery stopping at HasemannstraĆe station. Shortly after, the eight-axle tram will reach the Littenweiler station, after which it will return.

Nach langem Aufschieben verspĆ¼rte ich schlieĆlich den Drang, diese Oldtimer zu verewigen, besonders nach einem nicht-hobbybezogenen Besuch in Freiburg. In dieser Stadt sind noch drei Typen von DĆ¼wag-StraĆenbahnen im Einsatz: der GT8K aus den Jahren 1981/82, von dem noch zwei aktiv sind (leider nicht an dem Tag an dem ich dort war), der GT8N aus dem Jahr 1990, von dem noch etwa zehn im Dienst sind, und der GT8-MN-Z aus den Jahren 1993/94, von dem 26 fahren und der ein radikal anderes Design hat.
Hier sehen wir den GT8N 230 in seiner originalen Farbgebung an der Haltestelle HasemannstraĆe halten. Kurz danach wird die Achtachser die Haltestelle Littenweiler erreichen, wonach sie zurĆ¼ckkehrt.

Bucketlist photo bird! It was worth loosing the feeling in my feet and fingers to get some photos of this gorgeous male Redhead who was spotted in Forest Park. I was initially hesitant at going to look for him, but an ebird record showed he was still present this morning. Even with all my cold weather gear on, the indicated 14* on the truck, the ducks were swimming about on the open section of the pond. These arent super uncommon in MO during the winter, but they arent usually seen in large numbers or super consecutively. While I do wish I was able to get a lower angle on the water to him, I wasnt going to risk going thru the ice OR laying in the snow. I took over 800 photos in about 35-40 minutes, so theres a few to go thru, and so far there are some really good looking ones.
