Just one of the many unusual sights seen in Brighton and Hove at the weekend.

Someone, who shall remain nameless, left a bucket of water outside in the cold, then dumped the half frozen results in the middle of the driveway. First thought, get this thing out of the way before I accidentally destroy my snowblower. Second thought, drop whatever plans you have and take some photos, first with a red flashlight inside and then with a kerosene flame....included this shot next to a concrete block so you could get an idea of scale.

Bucket Jaggery is produced from sugarcane grown in Karnataka. Jaggery is a good source of nutrients and it is becoming popular as a "healthy" replacement to sugar. Jaggery aids in digestion and reduces constipation. It contains a single block of bucket-shaped jaggery.

Last year, I promised myself that I will change. I’m planning to keep that promise because truthfully, if I don’t change for the better I would be dead once I enter the real world (a.k.a. when I finally graduate and hunt for my first job.)

St. Jacobs, Ontario.

I used this as a tripod for shooting the band. (It was what I could find in the area.) The idea was to take a bunch of pictures of them in different places from the same angle, and later composite them together to make it look like there were a lot of them. Sure, System of a Down did it before (I don't know who they ripped off in turn), but it's still a clever idea.

As I was using Jeff's camera for the trip, I ended up getting RAW images out of it. I used rawstudio (which is just a frontend for dcraw), but I was a bit stumped about how to move the EXIF tags over, since rawstudio doesn't do that, and I'm a stickler for that sort of thing. Thankfully, exiftool does it: exiftool -TagsFromFile IMG_4358.CR2 IMG_4358.CR2_01.jpg

I love lists...and creating this layout is inspiring me to make a "bucket list" book of all the things I want to do and my reactions after I do them.

This is the digitally stitched version but you can see the individual pages in my gallery.

Journaling reads:

"So not sure why I have a bucket on my head...or why there's a photo of it...but regardless I've got a bucket list. Things I want to do-see-feel-experience before I die.

* learn to drive stick shift * [ get published] * get a tattoo * visit Ireland * go to Cinnamon Bay * [win a radio-call-in conest] * [take an exotic vacation] * [sidewalk chalk starry night on my driveway] * get published again * [go to college] * experience true happiness * be debt free * [swim with dolphins] * go to Australia * run a marathon or race * [get my tongue pierced] * climb a mountain * save a life * create an artistic masterpiece *

I can't wait to continue to add to this list...and cross things off! 24 February 2011

[[The things in brackets are crossed off in my journaling because I have already done them]]
