Here in Australia the bucket hat is a part of summer just as fish and chips on the beach, seagulls and thongs. This is my take on the traditional bucket hat. Being cotton it is a softer, floppier fit and can be easily chucked into your bag for a day at the beach or shopping.

A bucket in the rain when it doesn't wanna fall

And everything that matters, matters not at all

The quiet is too loud- I, feel weak, but I'm tough

I don't think that I'll ever feel like enough...

It started out like a good night until the rain decided to fall from the sky...

inspired by my sister, i've decided to do a bucket list for a number of reasons. i think its a nice way to set yourself little goals or exciting things you want to do and then feel the achievement went you can tick them off. on mine i have things which i know i have to do for school like 'do 6 observational drawings' or 'do a maths paper a week' and some are really fun like 'go to the beach more than once' and 'make a collage'. may favourite ones are probably the more challenging one (for me anyway ;P) like 'perfect a cookie recipe' or 'go jogging'. i hope i can do them all but we'll see....

Mini tabasco sauce bottles

I've been letting a collection of buckets father water (ice in winter) as a passive water collector to dump on the compost heap or thirsty trees.

With the last rain dump and then freeze, the ice came out in this interesting shape, like a giant beer mug?

Covered in buttercream with fondant accents. Number "6" done in fondant leaves to look like a plant growing inside with the bugs and worms. Sprinklied with crushed oreo cookies to give it a dirt look.

National T Bucket Power Tour (Lenoir NC) 2009

I had 45 minutes to drink 4 of these before leaving for my flight lol

Nifty little wood ice bucket with sterling silver crest & bands. I've always admired these but never wanted to pay the sticker price. This one was on a $5.00 table, with silver so tarnished it barely registered as silver.

No lid and wood has cracked, but I'm still quite pleased with the find.

BUCKETS OF BLOOD is a german based project which performs an intriguing mixture of music from BOB DYLAN, combined with reading of texts from and about Dylan which show some of the many, often surprising, facets of his personality.

- BUCKETS of BLOOD -

Eine Bob Dylan Konzertlesung

Markus Hepp: Sprecher (Theater Ravensburg)

Michael Moravek: Gesang, Gitarre (Planeausters)

Kerstin Becker: Geige, Gebläseorgel, Stylophone (The Blindboy)

I was impressed with how many buckets they seemed to have on hand - this seems to be a common occurence!

What is interesting is that HS are currently running an experiment on the roof with various soft roof coverings (i.e. turf or sedum) to find a way of preventing water ingress without installing a more invasive permanent alternative like a slate or flagstone roof. The part of the roof that was leaking heavily was the part remaining uncovered...

Performing duo "Buckets 'n Boards" perform in the Walt Disney Theatre aboard the Disney Fantasy. They drum, tap dance, sing, and do comedy.

We saw all three of their performances during the cruise, and would happily see them again -- they were great!

No clue what so ever what it's for :)

The Cooper (known today as a barrel maker) crafted casks (including barrels, buckets and pails) that served as shipping containers, held dry goods, like flour, gunpowder and tobaccao, and stored liquids from wine to milk. They start off by shaping the staves with broadaxes, planes and drawknives. They then gather the staves in a circle and secure them with a ring. The gathered staves are heated over a small stove to make them pliant, and the coopers bend them into shape. Hickory hoops hold them for banding. Then they cut grooves inside the lips to fit the barrelheads tightly.

The whole idea of fashioning the staves together and the bottoms, using simple tools, to make them hold liquids was too amazing for amazing. Of course, the cooper insisted that it was really easy. I was interested to learn that barrels are round (not square) so that they can be easily rolled for transport. I was familiar with buckets that are larger at the top than on the bottom, but I didn't know what the purpose of buckets that are larger at the bottom than at the top. It turns out they're used more on ships, where stability is important.

If the Cabinetmaker wowed as last year, the Cooper was the wow trade this year! Just look at his glasses!

Bucket hat, size small, from the Oliver + S book "Little Things To Sew." The reverse side is the same print (Mini Confetti Dots from Dear Stella) but in bright pink. This turned out really well, and I'm glad I took the time to do the extra stitching on the brim.
