A reflection in a floating soap bubble allows a table at the Berkeley Camera Club annual picnic to be shot from above.
Got my first Covid shot today... and maybe in the nick of time.. LoL!😂
This kiddo in the car parked next to us was blowing tons of bubbles out the window ... most sticking to their car. Couldn't help wondering if those little bubbles were armed with Covid .. 😷
(THIS IS A JOKE of course! )
*Bubbles in X-Large are kind of cool!
Sweet Valencia, one of our precious grandaughters enjoyin' one of the simple things in life. Every now & again when the grandkids are blowing bubbles, I will join them. It's fun!...& the last time I joined in, it made me realize how many of the simple things in life we, as adults, miss! When was the last time you, as an adult, went out in your yard during a summer rain & just let yourself get soaked? I've been doing just that the past few years on occasion. It's cathartic! "Stop & smell the roses" is so cliche as to be ignored.... yet it is SO amazingly true! Really look at clouds sometime, .. natural stress relief. Stop & look at a bug. Blow bubbles (You don't need a kid to do it). Draw a rainbow on a sidewalk with chalk. & trees!!! .... watch the treetops sway in a breeze, it seems a language unto it's own. These are just a few of God's antidepressants....they are there for us, & I urge you to consume them!!
I have been trying to do this for over a year now. this is my first adequate bubble shot.
Inspired by Richard on flickr. I say adequate because you gotta see his stream!! pretty awesome.
after bunch of reading and testing I can say this is my first bubble that I am proud of. didn't have an assistant, so I was making the bubble in one hand and trying to focus and shoot quickly in the other. that's why you see some panning effect :-)
total time: 2.5 hours

made my own bubble maker because I couldn't find one that could make a big bubble.
I shot this last night, at sunset. Shot towards the sun. Ring of fire! This is the first time I've seen a bright border around a bubble. I don't know why it looks like this. I like it though!

There's finally some sunshine after days of unceasing rain here in Phuket. Nothing better than a late Sunday afternoon blowing bubbles with my father and little brother.
Soap bubbles are physical illustrations of the complex mathematical problem of minimal surface. ((-;
